Former Rep. Joe Heck received criticism this week after he posted a picture on Instagram of himself posing next to a slain zebra with the caption, Great start to safari two off my list: Zebra and Black Wildebeast.
But Hecks apparent affinity for big-game hunting in South Africa didnt just upset some in the public.
The former Nevada Senate candidate earned a lashing from an organization he lobbied on behalf of this spring: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Sorry, Heck was left out of the title.
My bad side on> Oh, no. Barack and Michelle are gone! <My bad side off
A Zebra got shot?
In my own interests, and to avoid a visit by the FBI, I’ll make no further remarks at this time.
He shot a “Zebra and Black Wildebeast?
Must... Refrain.... from commenting!!!
Rep. Joe Heck ran away from Trump as well as most Republican politicians in Nevada. If he goes after Buffalo, I hope the Buffalo wins.
I think it's very open minded of PETA to hire a lobbyist who hunts. The meat goes to poor people, and I'm talking plumpy nuts and and no shoes poor, not snap card and Air Jordans poor. The zebra is by no means endangered but South African farmers who run game ranches are. Good for Heck.
As long as you don't post any photos of any former first ladys you should be OK. :o)
I want to treat a village to a bbq. I don’t care what kind of meat. I just want to spot and stalk it with my bow.
I can set you up with a plains game safari
Heck is a Cheap Labor Express stooge, just like Heller.
Selling out your fellow citizens must pay pretty well.
Should be no controversy. This issue is black and white.
You are correct as Heck.
Couldn’t pay me to shoot a zebra or any animal that isn’t attacking me.
Cape buffalo, that’s different. They’re mean & nasty all the time. Kill them before they kill you.
Feeding local villagers, fine. Meat goes for a worthy cause. Watch villagers skin out & butcher an elephant. Not for the faint of heart.
As for PETA, the hypocrisy beggars the imagination.
Close relative if mine went on African hunting trip. Nothing endangered. The local scouts were all too happy to take the carcasses back to the village to eat.....and they eat EVERYTHING and are thankful. He sent the heads home to mount.
I’ve shot zebra, they are very common, and some of the best eating game you’ll ever shoot.
