Get ready to work harder than you’ve ever worked in your life! Decades of Honey-do project all seem to need to be accomplished in the first week of retirement.
Former HR director here. Have no debt. Find something you have always wanted to do (that hopefully pays) and do it. Keep old friends and family close. Don’t drink or eat too much. Exercise and stay away from politics.
Learn to love Spam and Tuna Salad in those individual foil packets for the half of the month when there’s no money.
Stay busy stay active read write stay sane
Be prepared for the barrage of senior “offers” that will be coming your way. If it looks too good to be true ...

Good luck to you. Live long and prosper. Be aware that you have to sign up for Medicare when you turn 65. If you don’t, you’ll face a lifetime penalty. for the B part. (My mom paid the penalty for over 30 years.
What ever you have been putting off doing until your retire.. do it, do it now.
Retire? Why? To wait to die, doing nothing? I will never retire. I will work until the day I die. Not what you wanted to hear but take it for what it is worth. Movement keeps you alive; the day you stop moving, well, take it from there.....
Move to AZ.
Enjoy the time “off” for a few months - then get involved in something important. Man was not designed for a hammock - it will kill you.
I once saw a statistic from a major corp. - those who retired at 55 lived about 25 years more - those that retired at 60 about 15 - those forced to retire at 65 less than a year. The assumption was they did not have anything meaningful to get involved in. It really is important.
But take your time - at least for a few months!

Every day will be like Saturday. Except Sunday.
I retired last fall. 60 years old. First time in nearly 40 years with no employees.
I can still work whenever I want to. Or I can go mow my sons yard or I can go to a weekday auction if I feel like it.
Highly recommend it.
Eat your big meal at lunch and a small meal at dinner.

A friend of mine made some money and found his purpose repairing old bicycles — selling the new looking, and now functional bikes for a low price to kids and a fair price to adults. He became quite popular with some of the kids “advising” him on different paint jobs — I remember one was polka dot.
