I have my health insurance issue solved. I think I have enough money save (who knows how much you need). It is what it is and I'm as ready as I'm going to be.
For those of you who are retired or have recently retired. Can you send some tips my way?
Any and all notes will be appreciated and heavily considered.
Thanks to you all for your help.
Peace be with you.
I retired last fall. 60 years old. First time in nearly 40 years with no employees.
I can still work whenever I want to. Or I can go mow my sons yard or I can go to a weekday auction if I feel like it.
Highly recommend it.
Eat your big meal at lunch and a small meal at dinner.
What ever gave you that idea?
I’m 66 1/2 and started collecting benefits 6 months ago, but I’m still working full time. I’m single, I really enjoy my job. I’m not sure when I’ll pull the plug.

Excellent advice there! And that “something important” could be a part-time employment at a job you’d enjoy. Or it could be volunteer work.
You think retirement is sitting in a chair all day.
I had a spam samich just today.
Movement is always good, regardless of age, but keeping your brain active may be even better when you retire.
Keep moving. Stay physically active. This is crucial. Trust me on this.
A friend of mine made some money and found his purpose repairing old bicycles — selling the new looking, and now functional bikes for a low price to kids and a fair price to adults. He became quite popular with some of the kids “advising” him on different paint jobs — I remember one was polka dot.
If you look for work or hobbies, make sure they have absolutely nothing to do with your pre-retirement job...
Also, if you meet former employees, employers, or coworkers anywhere, never utter the words:"how are things going?"
Otherwise, the post above by yetidog is sound advice...
Lol.
Exactly.
Get a big dog to be your personal trainer.
Youll start to resent that arrangement.
No. But tell me, do you really think people ever retired before the 1700’s, or at any time before US history? And why should I retire? Can I not work, do what I want, be of service to those around me, and enjoy life without retiring? Why retire? Answer that.
Be active. Sitting all the time is as bad for you as smoking.
Be connected with people you care about.
Exercise 6 days a week. Whatever kind you like.
Enjoy.
“No.”
Perha9s you forgot what you posted:.
“Retire? Why? To wait to die, doing nothing?”
Regarding Honey-Do lists.
Keep the list, ignore the schedule.
Have short term and long term bucket lists...
Short term example photography class
Long term Trip to Belize
I’m so so jealous!!!! I have three and a half years to go...so happy for you! Were the last few years as hard for you as they are for me?
