FORMER US SECRETARY of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton has been conferred with an honorary doctorate from Trinity College Dublin.
Clinton was one of five people recognised for what the college calls “their contribution to society”.(snip)
Professor Anna Chahoud’s oration this afternoon paid tribute to Clinton’s life’s work:
“Almost 66 million people have given her their vote of confidence, sharing her belief that a true democracy is a society in which everyone is equally valued as a human being, from infancy to old age, irrespective of gender, status or nationality; it is a society in which women have the power to effect a transformative change towards development, justice, and peace.”
The award of the degree came against the backdrop of two protests outside the college against Clinton receiving the honour. Councillor Éilis Ryan of The Workers’ Party said that Clinton’s role in “promoting war should be reason enough to deny her this honour”.
“She advocated a war in Iraq which cost half a million lives, led the bombing of Libya which left a chaotic vacuum behind that has been filled by a return to human slavery, and promoted and facilitated a coup in Honduras which led to the murder of many progressive, female political activists.”

Well, we 'owe her' on some levels. Hillary was after all such a horrible person and tone deaf candidate that in fact she helped us win. That's worth a prize... maybe a booby prize... she wins 'life with abuser Bill'...
Nowadays, most PhD’s are pretty much that.

Ha! Some principled leftists have actually realized that she’s really a neo-con warmonger (who would have had us in a war in Syria at the least had she won).
It’s amazing how many American leftists have done a 180 with their beliefs since W. was president. Since 2016, they’ve wanted a needless war with Syria, are currently aggitating for increased tensions with Russia in their strongest McCarthyite manner, and are trying their best to torpoedo Trump’s peace efforts with North Korea. The neo-cons have done a full take-over of the Democratic Party, and too many of their followers are too obtuse, self-deceiving, or brainwashed to even notice.

He has made critical remarks of the US border policy while in Ireland.

I doubt the majority of the country knows that we are a Constitutional Republic. Eveyone in the media, and even most politicians, will refer to our "democracy".
