Full Title: Dem Rep Sponsoring Trump Tax Cut Repeal Paid No Taxes for Five Years Repeal could cost the state of Colorado hundreds of millions
Congressman Jared Polis of Colorado, who is sponsoring a bill that would repeal the Trump tax cuts, thereby effectively raising tax rates on most Americans and businesses, recently reconfirmed to a reporter in his home state that for at least five years he paid no income taxes at all from 2001 to 2005.
The issue resurfaced in a recent debate as Polis is running for governor. The five-term congressman is one of the ten wealthiest members of Congress. However, a repeal of the tax law would be costly to the state he hopes to lead.
Shortly after the tax bill was passed in December, Colorado state budget experts estimated the changes would result in anywhere from $196 to $340 million in new receipts to the state's coffers.
The Polis campaign did not return a comment on whether the congressman was willing to let Colorado forego those automatic gains.
"The newly passed tax bill would generate more money than the sales tax boost proposed by a bipartisan group of Colorado lawmakers earlier this year to fund transportation needs," a house editorial by the Denver Post said just after the bill was signed into law by the president. "Republicans in the state Senate refused to send that tax increase to voters. But this new revenue would come without that difficult hurdle. Thanks, Congress!"

That one of the 10 wealthiest members of Congress paid no taxes in the last 5 years and that he/she is a democrat should not be surprising. Why should Colorado Voters vote for him/her for governor? What impact will this have on Christian Bakeries and where will his fat boot land after the bakers are in prison?
He paid no taxes from 2001 - 2005, not the last 5 years.
He is probably the better of the 3 dims which I not saying much. Kennedy is a proud activist and paid off by teacher unions and CEA aka Communist Education Ass. Johnston is anti 2A, reminds me of Hogg and wants to raise taxes for edumacation. All 3 would be putty for the teacher unions.
It said for 5 years, not the “last” 5 years. I worked every year since I was 14 years old, before it was legal working age, but it shows up on my Social Security Statements. I have worked continuously, even through college for 45 years now. I have always had to pay income taxes every single year.
Thanks for posting the “disgusting” photo of the pole smoker Polis. Would you let him kiss your baby?
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
OK, my mistake. I have never had a year that I have not paid taxes in my 45 years of working. The worst was a few years ago when my wife and I paid $75K in State and Federal income taxes. Don’t know how much in additional taxes were paid for utilities, Sales Tax, vehicle tag, all sorts of add on. The parasites are on me big time.
Same here. I started working full time in an uncles restaurant at 10 years old. I was however paid under the table with room and board and $15 a week. Straight to work after school until 10PM and all day (8AM-10PM) on Saturday and during summer when school was out. When I tell others about this they seem to think it was horrible and pity me but I remember being happy to be able to have a job and money to buy shoes and cloths. I wish every kid today had the opportunity I had.
Net worth said to be $400 million.
Wish I could NOT income tax for 5 years, but I bet I’d be in jail...
I understand. Same here, I have paid taxes all my life as well. Even when it sometimes became hard to do so. Taxes are stifling, and the fact that taxes were spent to provide for illegal aliens is frustrating. When I have to deny my family to care for those who came here illegally, is when I get really upset. And they wonder why we want it to stop.
I am beginning to think that “canceling student loan debt” is becoming the new “black reparations” for Demoncrats.
In addition to that he is a very committed gun-grabber.
Polis is hardcore anti-2nd Amendment too.
I’ll bet you are not, Reverend Al? ;^}
