If the strapping chestnut colt Justify wins the Belmont Stakes on Saturday to become just the 13th horse in history to claim horse racings Triple Crown, two of the three groups that have an ownership stake in the horses breeding rights will be front and center during the celebration.

Remember that old grey mare with the fat fetlocks that he bet on????
George Soros in December donated $6 million to the leading super PAC supporting Hillary Clintons presidential campaign, marking the return of the billionaire financier as among the biggest givers in all of American politics.
The massive check brings to $8 million the Hungarian-born investor’s total 2015 giving to pro-Clinton groups.
Always wondered what horse meat tastes like - for real.
For some reason I think of France as a place where horse meat is popular. I think I know why, too. When France was defeated by the Prussians in 1870, Paris was under siege for months and the people had to turn to horse meat & since there were plenty of dead horses from all the shellfire, it was an obvious choice.
A horse breeder wrote in to say that the do-gooders got domestic horse processing outlawed so the animals get shipped to Mexico where humane slaughter standards are unknown.
Is Alpo produced in Mexico? I don’t know.
Probably not Mickey D’s. If someone bit into a Big Mac made of horsemeat, it would scream “WILBURRR!!!”
;^)
Race horses & breeding stallions are syndicated to a great number of people That way, a person can own a small part at a price they can afford.
Sort of like owning stock in any company.
The colt had no say in who his owner is. If he wins it’s because he was the best in the race. If some other entry wins then I wait another year for a Triple Crown. I like Gronkowski as he is an unknown in American racing and I can get a good price if he wins.
Trump’s fault.
Poor horse.
Money wise...whatever Soros wins as far as breeding rights or Winnings is pocket change to him.
He doesn’t own the horse as an investment.
The guys would make kebobs, filets, burgers, name it. I was too young to give a darn.
I do remember being with my granny at the local butcher shop and her pointing out the horse meat from the other burger meat.
My earlier days in Mexico you might get horse meat, goat meat...name it. Some of those stories are sort of legendary and a bit gross. When hungry we didn't care what was in the tacos. No idea on Alpo. I think horses are still eaten in some countrys including our own but not spoken
That’s true but I was having fun. Used to go to the races in SoCal and we have a track here in Ferndale. I don’t bet but like picking the horses to win. I’ve won on a few horses but as stated I am not a better, just fun and like the variables in trying to pick a winner. Can’t say I’ve picked a bunch of winners but have had my days. Hope you make a mint!
Ferndale is lovely, if I ever get to SoCal I want to go when Ferndale has it’s meet. Love watching it. I have the Chicago circuit. Hawthorne/Arlington.
Enjoy watching the races and probably watch more then I bet.
I will take you explanation all in good fun.
Just watched a top trainer win at 24-1 But to be honest this was his first win of the year and 2nd in 2 years. I take trip notes so I end up looking for these things.
August are the races. It’s a lot of fun in a small town. Used to watch Los Alamitos.
Justify is worn out and won’t win...too bad because Mike Smith is awesome...question is who will...
Hofburg wins. But I live Bravazo too...
Classic post.
