The Broward County Medical Examiners Office ruled the death was accidental, police said Wednesday. Diaz said no one will be charged in the incident. The male pit bull 3 or 4 years old was raised by the family since it was a puppy, police said. Its sibling and mother, both pit bulls, were also family pets. All were removed from the home the day of the attack, but the dog owner has only surrendered Thor,...

No thanks....I cant even read that. The headline alone is more than I can stomach. Prayers for this child & Family.
How is it accidental if dog overpowered handler to get at the kid..?
I love animals but they have bounds....human involuntary or involuntary negligent homicide to me. When people start getting dinged for the acts of their pet killing somebody, ownership will change
I heard about this incident perhaps two weeks ago.
Rest in Peace, little daughter of The Lord.
Really? Horrifying.
Watched a docudrama last night. Pitbull owner in Dayton, Ohio had a running feud with his neighbor. Used his 2 dogs to maul her to death. Murder by dog. He was charged with a misdemeanor (not keeping them leashed) and did 150 days.
Both dogs and owner should be shot !
The only one negligent is the grandmother (not the dog's owner) in her estimation of being able to control the dog (she was wrong).
I'm not sure that I'd be interested in claiming negligent homicide and exposing the grandmother to legal peril.
The dog’s owners are the mother and father of the child. They’re keeping the other pit bulls that they own.
After the her baby was mauled to death, the mother, “not ready to blame the breed entirely,” said, “I still dont feel any type of way about a pit bull” (cited source below).

When will pit bull owners learn that children, small pets and pit bulls do NOT belong together???
Accidental?! No! Charge the owners with murder!!! Convict and execute them. These murderous attacks need to stop.
They are incapable of “learning”.
from your link
“”Broward County has 17 dangerous dogs, according to records from the Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Division. Eleven of those dogs are pit bulls, American Staffordshires which are also in the pit bull group or pit mixes.”
Wonder if they deal with their dangerous dogs the same way they deal with their dangerous human teenage pukes? Give em a pass.
As much as some folks adore the breed, how do you look anyone in the face after an attack like this, without knowing you ignored everyone to keep that dog in the home?
The kid didn’t need to die. End of story.
Small kids, and even some not so small adults are defenseless against an attack by one or more of these dogs.
I don’t care if 1 in 50,000 dogs do this, some do. When it comes to my kids, I do not take long odds chances. PERIOD!
If others want to, don’t come to me with a long face. You knew the chance you were taking.

Sounds almost like a plot out of the old Columbo TV show.
How come we have to be responsible for our weapons at all times (Rightly so, in my opinion.) but not our animals?
people value animals over little children....its called paganism....
Non-issue.
The point to bear in mind is that the dog/puppy's ancestors, great-ancestors, great-great-ancestors, and so on were bread to main, attack and kill. It's innate. If some individual pit is raised to be peaceful, hat-tip to the owner for overcoming its ancestry and genes. But, its merely like a moderate muslim.
Like muslims, always treat the pit as if it is loaded. Don't point it at anybody you want to keep alive.
