About the only thing I use Facebook for now is discussions in the FaceBook group, RethinkingHell.
I’m not sure how Facebook survives long term. It is a privacy nightmare, a data miner, terminally politically correct.

Myself: Never used FB, no desire to join the hive-mind
Wife: Uses FB a lot
Daughter, 33: Rarely uses FB. Uses for work only.
Son, 30: Never uses FB. “Why would I use that?”
Daughter, 20: Rarely uses FB. “FB sucks.”
Daughter, 18: Never uses FB, “FB is for old people”
Daughter, 16: Never uses FB. “LOL.. Facebook. LOL”
FB will crash and burn eventually.
Another thing I never understood was this friend bullshit, I knew a person who was all excited by strangers friending him and by how many of them there were. I found that to be ..........sad.

There are billions of users world wide who don't care and aren't aware of what's going on with their data.
The chances of someone creating an alternative seems slim.
Facebook will be around for awhile.
The grannies we know, text and email. My wife, my sister and our In Laws text and email.
The heavy users are the 40-50+ year olds who need to know what the rest of their world is doing and to share with them what they are doing or often not doing. This group is mainly female and they are also fighting Father time as they age each day and don’t want to admit it.
None of our male relatives use Facebook, from teens to those of us pushing 80 or over it. We text, use email and still make phone calls to those we care about. We meet for lunch if geography allows it. If not we call on a regular basis.
One of our 50 year old adult sons, feels that the heavy Facebook users in his age group are the same people who lived or died to be in the “In Groups” in high school from fashion to music to movies and how they talked.
The day he and his few good friends were graduated from high school, they left that world behind and started being adults.
However, we still live in America, if a large % of our population loves Facebook and enjoy using, that is fine.
Fecesbook, it’s where the Garbage Pail Kids all hang out...
And yet, truth be told, there are a multitude of Freepers still using FaceBook for varied reasons.....all of them still helping to keep the cesspool alive......go figure.
