Miss America is scrapping its swimsuit competition and will no longer judge contestants based on physical appearance, the organization announced Tuesday.
"We are no longer a pageant," Gretchen Carlson, the first former Miss America to be named chair of the Board of Trustees of the Miss America Organization, said on "GMA." "We are a competition."
In place of the swimsuit portion of the competition, Miss America contestants will now take part in a live interactive session with the judges, according to the organization.
The contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be asked to demonstrate their passion, intelligence and overall understanding of the job of Miss America.
The organization is also getting rid of the evening gown portion of the competition and instead asking contestants to wear attire that makes them feel confident, expresses their personal style and shows how they hope to advance the role of Miss America.

It’s hard to believe they still have this going on. They’ll probably also engineer it so 90% of the contestants are minority, like TV ads.

I confess I’ve not watched them for 30 years or more, so I may not know what I’m talking about. I enjoyed Miss Congeniality though. But it has a story line.

OMG! They still call it MISS America? How dare they assume someone’s pronoun? And how inclusive is the “America” bit?

When watching an interview with the poor oppressed ex-Houston Texans cheerleaders, it was striking that they all had the same nose. Wonder if they got a group rate?

The real question is this: We’ve seen things changing like this for a couple of decades now. It only gets worse and more towards “enforced sameness” that utterly violates human nature. Where does that put us in a year, in five years, in ten years?
My suspicion: A young male population addicted to video games, virtual sex and pr0n, and women left on the vine to basically pleasure each other.
And any real alpha males can stick a proverbial middle finger at society by having a whole stable of f**k buddies (modern version of the harem).

Okay, no more swimsuit competition. But do the judges still get freebees the night before? Not that it would ever influence their voting, mind you.
I thought they did away with the looks part long ago when she won.
