Reagans daughter: My dad would be appalled by Trump presidency
Ronald Reagan would be appalled by the Trump presidency, daughter Patty Davis tells the Washington Post.
In a letter written on the occasion of the anniversary her fathers June 5, 2004 death, Davis said Reagan would be pretty horrified at where weve come to.
He would be appalled and heartbroken, she wrote, at a Congress that refuses to stand up to a president who not only seems ignorant of the Constitution but who also attempts at every turn to dismantle and mock our system of checks and balances.
Davis, 65, doesnt mention Trump by name; she does make mention of how shed once publicly criticized another president her father.

What was your problem with Eisenhower?!
ML/NJ
Even if he did think badly pf Trump, he would never have said anything. He certainly would never have said anything publicly.
See, I know her father better than she does.
Well... this only proves that the offspring of presidents, even great ones, don’t necessarily get any real brains as part of the DNA.
Ronnie’s biggest disappointment were his kids.
Dudn’t President Reagan find Patty Davis pretty appalling (politically)?? He and Maureen were in sync but Patty may as well have been on another planet from her dad.
I seem to recall that President Trump has in writing notes from both Presidents Nixon and Reagan saying DJT should one day run for POTUS. Patty didn’t know her father, at least politically.
CIA to Patty: we still ha e the tapes. Remember youre agreement? Time for you to sing.
Victor Davis Hanson on Reagan: (EXCERPT FROM CALIFORNIA AND CONSERVATISM, NATIONAL REVIEW, JUNE 3, 2018)
Of course, it is common to have a nostalgic view of Ronald Reagan, as model of genial, principled conservatism that might return to accelerate Californias salvation. But a review of the 1966 gubernatorial campaign reveals one of the nastiest races in California memory. Reagan gave back everything that Edmund Brown Sr. dished out to him, and won by rivaling a later Trump in his often cruel invective. Reagan castigated welfare bums, and promised to clean up the mess at Berkeley. And when governor, after failed popular demands that he be recalled, Reagan kept at it with rhetoric that again rivals Trumps worst. Of the Peoples Park demonstrations, he declared, If it takes a bloodbath, lets get it over with. No more appeasement. And he joked that he hoped the free food for poor communities leveraged by the terrorist SLA might be infected by botulism. Quite simply, Reagan did not call for a thousand points of light or a kinder, gentler state.
As I recall, she ran with a left wing commie group when her Dad was becoming the Greatest President of the 20th Century, so she is not qualified to comment.
Ronnie would be appalled and heartbroken to see what utter scum his kids continue to be.
Don’t care if Reagan approvess. Live him, but he also thought Bush was a good guy. And i really don’t care what his little princess thinks.
She is speaking for someone else, dead many years and a person she fought and didn’t really understand. Probably not a good idea and she should stick to speaking for herself. Thus on a credence scale of 1-10, this is in negative numbers.
Truman was President when you were born.
My mistake
I thought Maureen was adopted as well
And her publicized abortions
Besides the fact that he did NOTHING to roll back the massive leftist agenda of the Federal Government (or the Communist infiltration), demolished the GOP on his watch (especially in the 1958 elections, which took FOUR decades to recover from), stood idly by while JFK stole the Presidency in 1960. What’s not to like about Ike ? He set the standard for RINO do-nothing leadership.
Reagan would likely be impressed by how Trump’s children turned out.
Honey, we all know your father far better than you.
Put down the bong, Patty. Aren’t you a Grandma by now?
Oy! These people!
“Until President Trump, Reagan was the only decent President in my lifetime, and I was born in 1958.”
You speak for a WHOLE Generation of Conservatives! President Reagan was the first President I ever voted for and the ONLY vote I have NEVER regretted, for even one second.
Same goes for President Trump. Every DAY bring something terrific and pro-American from him. MAGA! :)
