I mourned the loss of my cat more than I did with my dad.......And I'm mentally stable.
Maybe it was because my cat was closer to me than my dad ever was....
Oddly enough, I still miss my cat...........
Animals give unconditional love. Particularly most dogs would give their lives for us.
Can say that for too many people.
That’s a warm and touching story. Big lesson for a young boy. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Dogs’ Lives Matter
Lol.
You’re beneath contempt. Straight teeth > life. Nice choice.
A mistake of grief is to replace the loss.
Give grief time.
The way to grieve is to feel the loss deeply.
Child or pet, all grief is the similar. Loss.
When you allow yourself to be physically sick, immobile, near puking, you are at the dept of your grief.
It’s Tough When You Hold A Dog You’ve Had For 17 Tears In Your Arms As The Vet gives Her The Injection That Stops Her Heart.
Thank you for posting that poem.
I had a dog six weeks less than 18 years. He became diabetic, went blind, became deaf, and eventually a little senile. He got sick first, then my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The dog took a tremendous amount of care. My husband was jealous of the care the dog got. He should have been thankful. If I could care that much about a dog, think how much more I cared about him. The dog passed in August and my husband the next April. It’s been more than two years now, and I miss them both terribly. The sweet love of a wonderful dog is a different kind of love, but love nonetheless. Yes, I have more dogs now. No more puppies. I’m too old to give a puppy a forever home. I have two that were picked up running loose and another one that was sold on Craigslist when she was no longer a useful breeder. Every living thing deserves a loving home. They have that now.
Yeah like the animals that had to give gave up their skins and lives by the living God to clothe Adam and Eve when they were sent from the Garden!(and later the Living God in flesh when his blood was shed for our sucky sins????.) Life sucks because of the choices we have to make and I didn’t have 7 thousand to save our dog...but she didn’t suffer long!
Hitler loved his Dogs but sent millions of people to the gas chambers. How’s that for an insinuation!??? And you have the nerve to tell me I am beneath contempt!!!?

Perspective is necessary. When a boy, indeed I cried, as a man I now know that the death of a pet would not evoke the same emotion as I experienced as a combat leader and the human cost of conflict.
Some people have more trouble getting over loss of a pet than of a human friend/relative...I can relate to feeling a bit sad for a while but let’s be real - they are pets and we generally know the “expiration date” ahead of time.
Happy Puppy, Sam's a happy puppy
He jumps and plays and licks my chin
I gotta laugh when I see him grin
Happy puppy, Sam's a happy puppy
happy puppy....happy puppy....happpy...
One of the greatest gifts our Creator has bestowed upon us.
Listen, I’m not the one who can’t afford proper dental care for my children.
Actually I could afford it, not just dental but medical and to keep them fed(all 4 of them). Just didn’t have 7000 dollars to save the dog. Human needs over the dog...I chose my family. PETA Liberals would love you!
Now this is how I interpret your response....”Hello from Auscwitz...Arbeit Macht Frei!
1. You're a bit slow on the uptake, which isn't your fault.
2. You're one of the people who needs to open her pie hole about everything because somewhere in your life, someone told you your input was important. No one cares what you think.
Good day.
1. You are on FR so number “2”( your point and any other interpretation you might wish to apply) must also apply to you. About the price of a cup of coffee and a 1.59 is about all your opinion is worth (and mine as well).
2. If you were attempting some type of irony your skill as a writer leaves everyone “ a bit slow on the uptake”. It was pretty clear what you were insinuating and I called you out on it.
I’m sorry for the pain that folks feel about their lost pets. We grieved that night as well for our pet...we haven’t had another dog since!
