This is such an interesting area culture wise, the people tend to look very Mediterranean Greek/Turkish and the food is a mixture of levant spices and Mediterranean staples.

I always thought the Corinthian helmets were the most snazzy looking ones in existence.

Wow! That really demonstrates what you can accomplish when you dig with a paintbrush.

Amazing how the placement of the fragments is almost undisturbed.

Is it made of Corinthians Leather?

No. But Ricardo tells me it is lined with fine Corinthian leather.

Yes, the inside is covered in leather. Most likely Corinthian leather. 8>)

Corinthian leather is a term coined by the advertising agency Bozell to describe the upholstery used in certain Chrysler luxury vehicles. The term first appeared in advertising in 1974.

An example of fine Corinthian leather:

My friend in California sent me these videos of Alexander’s conquest into Asia. The interesting part is that he could actually sail to points on the Asian mainland that are now actually ground. The route covered includes modern Uzbekistan, Turkministan and Afghanistan.

He visits a Lapas Lazuli mine still being worked after thousands of years. He visits many very very large ruins of cities that were militaty garrisons years ago. He visits somewhere far far off the beaten path where the kids are very very greek, the descendents of Alexander

Alexander’s soldiers likely had such helmets and there were many thiusands of them

It is a truly great series, blew my mind.

See my post 33 below.

The You tube series actually visits a place on the Oxus river where the sand contains gold particles. The people build wooden placer mining troughs very similar to those used in California and the Yukon onto which they pour the sand slurry. The final stage is a sheep skin. The wool catches the fine gold and it is quite visible and easily removeable.

They have been at it for thousands of years.

“The helmet has a padded interior made of fabric or leather to protect the warrior’s skull.”

You stole my line: “Rich Corinthian leather.” Well done.
