About 15 minutes into my Thursday-night visit to Old Philadelphia Bar, the inevitable happened. A man, who said he was a former firefighter before saying that he was a Mexican, which he then said was “just a joke” (the Mexican part), walked up to the jukebox, put his money inside, and played the 1984 Lee Greenwood hit “God Bless the USA.” ---SNIP--- There are American flag pennants, “USA” signs, and red and blue stars all over the walls. It’s the type of bar where you’re more likely to find construction workers and toothless men than the hipsters and yuppies who have taken over parts of the neighborhood around the bar.
“Not over run with hipster douchebags,” is how one recent Google review puts it.

They sought, or just happened to find, “the perfect bar” for a man who doesn’t drink because his brother died from alcoholism. Maybe not the most on-point recommendation.
Why would our POTUS VSG Trump be in a bar?

One of our favorite things to do is go to a billiards hall and shoot some pool or darts. I drink enough beer for the both of us so the waitstaff aren't shortchanged on tips.
I'm just saying that you don't have to drink alcohol to hang out in a pub or a bar.

This piece struck me as more of a backhand to the resident locals who would be at these bars.
In the neighborhoods of my youth, you couldn’t walk more than four blocks in any Philly residential neighborhood without having at least one Tap Room. Some named themselves bars but the Tap Room moniker told you what you would find at the bar.
There were at least three within a two block radius from the old homestead. Some had outstanding food.
LIberals have no idea how insipidly narcissistic they sound when they sneer at working people, do they now?
