From a screenplay by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the film follows a woman as she returns to the community that shunned her decades earlier for an attraction to a childhood friend.
Once back, their passions reignite as they explore the boundaries of faith and sexuality.
Based on Naomi Alderman's book, the film stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola.

Other than Bareback Mounting, I was not even aware of homo films being out there. Most subscription movie services, like Netflix and Hulu, have entire categories for all things queer. I didnt know what they would contain, but Id bet that these films are called gay if they even tangentially touch the subject of faggotry, not necessarily as their main theme. So the 1970s ilm Tootsie might be in this category. So would Sling Blade since one of the main characters was affrimingly gay.

I think the gay thing was being introduced into our viewing choices decades ago.
I recall that the popular TV series of the mid to late ‘70s, Starsky and Hutch, had a character called Huggy Bear who was a flaming gay black guy. He played a comedic role and they never showed him in a gay situation.

Disobedience is trash. I notice the leading character is a non-practicing Hasidic Jew. Couldn’t be frum, or she wouldn’t be homosexual. They must be extremely afraid of Hasidic Jews, else they wouldn’t try to make them out to be non-practicing. Israel is projected to be 50% Orthodox by 2030. Don’t know, but I bet the majority will be Hasidic, i.e. Ultra-Orthodox.

SOYLO a SOY WARS Story: A Pansexual love story between a man-soy boy, and the obnoxious feminazi robot he loved before she got destroyed and dismantled leading a rebellion for "droid rights".
George Lucas must be spinning in his grave, and he isn't even dead yet; but STAR WARS is! SJW, white male hating, feminazi cray, cray, Kathleen Kennedy and her perverted legion of demented, SJW, PC Pink minions killed it.

I thought Huggy Bear was your run of the mill 70’s pimp. Flamboyant they were in those days, flashy furs, hats, clothes and cars. I’m not sure ‘faggotry’ entered the picture.

Hollyweird, as usual, missed the point. The Birdcage didn't succeed because it was a gay movie. It succeeded because it was a funny, well-written, well-acted movie about love and families that had gays in it. It is one of the very few remakes that I like better than the original. The themes are universal.

Birdcage (#490). Not one of the 600 top grossing films has had a gay theme that included any overt homosexual elements.Ummm... so they're saying "Birdcage" doesn't have homosexual elements to it, since it is clearly in the top 600? I'm not sure they saw the same movie that I did.

$47,000 per theater is pretty darn good, actually... but they only showed it in 3 theaters. I’m guessing NY, LA, and SF.
