Other than Bareback Mounting, I was not even aware of homo films being out there.

Most subscription movie services, like Netflix and Hulu, have entire categories for all things queer. I didn’t know what they would contain, but I’d bet that these films are called “gay” if they even tangentially touch the subject of faggotry, not necessarily as their main theme. So the 1970’s ilm Tootsie might be in this category. So would Sling Blade since one of the main characters was affrimingly “gay.”

I think the gay thing was being introduced into our viewing choices decades ago.

I recall that the popular TV series of the mid to late ‘70s, Starsky and Hutch, had a character called Huggy Bear who was a flaming gay black guy. He played a comedic role and they never showed him in a gay situation.
