Storyline

From a screenplay by Sebastián Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the film follows a woman as she returns to the community that shunned her decades earlier for an attraction to a childhood friend.

Once back, their passions reignite as they explore the boundaries of faith and sexuality.

Based on Naomi Alderman's book, the film stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams and Alessandro Nivola.

Disobedience is trash. I notice the leading character is a non-practicing Hasidic Jew. Couldn’t be frum, or she wouldn’t be homosexual. They must be extremely afraid of Hasidic Jews, else they wouldn’t try to make them out to be non-practicing. Israel is projected to be 50% Orthodox by 2030. Don’t know, but I bet the majority will be Hasidic, i.e. Ultra-Orthodox.
