An 8-month-old girl was bitten by a family pit-bull dog and died from her injuries Wednesday in Miramar, police said.
The baby was in the care of a grandmother during the attack, Miramar Police Officer Yessenia Diaz said outside a home in the 2400 block of Kingston Drive.
Nearby, a distraught man was being comforted by two women.
The male pit bull was 3 or 4 years old and had been raised by the family since it was a puppy, Diaz said. Its sibling and mother, both pit bulls, were also in the home.

SMH at the stupidity of people.
Welcome to Hollywood.
NOTHING is real.
Except the suffering, and that's on Santa Monica Blvd, where tricks are for kids, and never on the screen.
We live in a very small town. The house across the street is a rental. New tenants have three pit bulls. Little kids live on either side and mine are directly across.
They are always on a leash or inside as far as I can tell. Praying that all the kiddos are protected.
“..Tochicos body was found in his garage by a gardener, and judging from the needle in his arm, he died of a self-inflicted steroid overdose.....”
There was a satire label at the top of the article.
Yes, those consequences were a very real possibility just for the fact that the beast existed.
It seems we hear another story every other day about this breed attacking and killing, just because.
What idiot takes that chance with their babies?
Negligent homicide.
If the neighbors yard isnt fenced. Then fence yours. Advise the neighbors on both sides to do the same. Buy a mosseburg 500 pump with an 18 barrel and load it with #4 buckshot. If they (the dogs) get agressive with a kid put it down. If the owners get agressive put them down. Just saying.
Their backyard is fenced, front is not. Im hoping that they will be here short term. From what I observe, it looks like a shack up relationship that will be short lived. Hopefully when it ends the dogs go with whoever moves out.
Ive not seen one in the last couple of years though. I wonder if most or all of them had their own close (or not so close) call with their own pit bull.
In the past month or so there have been many threads here on FR about Pit Bull attacks and there are at least five or six Pit defenders, three of them who resort to Ad hominem attacks at the outset of their arguments.
Good grief, what passes for journalism these days.
You could hardly find a more disjointed, disorganized bit of writing. It looks like a fourth grader wrote it.
keep your babies and young children separate from dogs unless you're right there holding them...
I notice that this dog was raised by this family so its not like it was trained to be a killer....
its the nature of the beast..
so very sad for the young family and their now gone young innocent daughter...such a beautiful child...
I cant think of their screen name, but one of such is a nasty piece of work. Very hostile and breathes wishful threats against critics of pit bulls.
Be sure youre packing the Glock cause youre going to be dealing with its owner after the spine snaps.
Like, it was so weird. It never did that before. I don’t get it. Weird.

Unimaginable to me. The regrets they must have...
I met a friend’s dog yesterday. She’s a golden retriever. Barely more than a pup, she is energetic and rambunctious. As adorable as she is, I would not want her too close to an infant unless I had total control. Never been blessed with kids so it’s a potential problem I should never have to deal with.
There seems to me a significant difference among different breeds of dogs. I’ve no doubt a dog’s behavior is greatly influenced by how it’s treated and trained by the owner, but genetics seems to play a big difference in what to expect from a dog’s nature.
These animals are bred for this and have been over a hundred years. The only thing weird is idiots that think the issue is weird when it happens.
Two things I never trust around dogs...drunks and children.
