Looking for suggestions/recommendations on a charcoal grill. Looking for a 22 inch or greater. Was hoping to purchase the green egg but first quarter business did not go as planned and i need to scale back on my purchase. Looking in the $300 to $400 range. Any ideas?? Thanks
I have had a Weber hybrid for about 20 years now (same one!) and I love it.
It is a kettle type with a bin for charcoal, and a small gas burner that lights the charcoal...then you turn it off.
Fill the charcoal in the basket, light the gas, wait ten minutes, turn off the gas, wait twenty more, and you are ready to grill all charcoal!
I love mine.

I have a char-griller, with the additional smoke box. Have had one for 15 years. Cast iron grates. Grill or smoke it works great. Get one at Lowe’s for under 200.
Get a Char-Broil Infrared gas grille with as much stainless in the firebox as possible.
Another vote for Weber.
Hi gla -
I’ve got a friend who is into low&slow and a bbq philosopher. He’s honed his skills, and his dream grill is: the BIG Weber I beleive it’s 29”, price is normally around $299 but can be found on sale.
I’m more of a gas grill guy for convenience, but he is much more into controlling temps and patience. Weber has really a lot of flexibility with their new vent system, and there’s a HUGE amount of space on the big Weber.
Good luck!
Get a big high heat thermometerone for putting into the vent at the top and get another for the meat.
I have made the best salmon and other foods, this way. You show cook with smokey, real wood steam and be sure to use wood piece charcoal and not standard charcoal briquettes.
I like those Green Eggs, but the price of them nearly made me fall on the floor!
PK Grill (Charcoal). It’s the best charcoal grill I’ve ever pwned. Check their website out and their reviews.
We are on our second Weber Performer Pro. We also have the rotisserie collar. Awesome.
Big Green Egg user here, but you can’t go wrong with a Weber. I had two before I got the Egg.
Broil King
Had one for 19 years and only replaced the burner and grate once. Use it about a hundred times a year. Very hot propane grill. Built real heavy. I know it is more than you were shooting for but it will last forever.
Weber gets mt vote. Parts wear out and need to be replaced. Weber parts are widely available.
