CNN contributor April Ryan has come under fire for sharing an article on Twitter that implied President Donald Trump’s administration is involved in a child sex-trafficking ring.
On Thursday, Ryan shared an article from The Root, which was titled, “Is the Trump administration running a child-trafficking ring or nah? Follow me down the rabbit hole.”
The article said the Trump administration is intentionally making it easier for minority children to be kidnapped and trafficked by criminals. It also claims the administration is doing this because — you guessed it — they are white nationalists who want to prevent minorities from succeeding in life.
“Now Trump and Sessions—with the help of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen—are putting even more children at risk, breaking up families and contemplating throwing kids into internment camps or sending them off into homes with unvetted or unmonitored adults, and losing kids right and left. If someone did want to traffic a bunch of barely literate, frightened, lost brown children fleeing poverty and violence in South America, Trump and Sessions just made it a lot easier.”

The piece doesn’t admit there’s no proof to support the erroneous claim until paragraph 11, which was an intentional ploy to lead readers into believing the utterly insane theory.
But more importantly, why is a top CNN contributor sharing an article claiming the Trump administration is racist and has been involved with exacerbating a child-trafficking ring against minorities?
Ryan was ripped to pieces on social media for sharing the article, and it even drew a swift rebuke from Stephanie Grisham, First Lady Melania Trump’s spokeswoman.
