Just because the author writes it doesn’t make it true.
The writer observes that “most” middle aged white people loaf in Starbucks for hours without buying anything?
No wonder why the country has gone to hell in a hand basket.
Although I’m middle aged, and haven’t done that yet- I have however spent time in bars and cocktail lounges, if you don’t buy anything there they kick you out regardless of your ethnicity.
Why should I have to suffer interacting with riff-raff. THe homeless, drug dealers, and other so-called "youths" who are not adding to the quality of life?
Pure speculation on the authors part.
In addition, he leaves out important parts of the story:
In Starbucks, the two men were asked to leave, but refused. Was the author ever asked to leave, but refused?
In the Oakland scenario, was the barbequeing done before or after the city ordinance was passed?
This is manipulating the story to fit the narrative the author wants us to accept.
Quality of life laws serve as a potent instrument of racial segregation.
These people are dangerously insane. We have to get them out of power. Its a matter of survival at this point.

Just another steaming pile from the New York Slimes.....
He’s right, black people should be allowed to do anything they want, regardless of any laws on the books because of.... because of.... uh, because of..... slavery. That’s it slavery. /s
As per FR tradition, no I did not read the whole article.
The guys had asked about using the bathroom.
This tells you a couple of things:
1) the bathroom was locked.
2) stores that lock bathrooms typically do so because either loitering or the homeless have caused problems in the store.
3) they drew attention to themselves by asking.
Without #2, you don’t have #1, and #3 probably wouldn’t have occurred.
No potty-pun intended, though it would be interesting to see what folks think #3 is.
Dem ebil white peoples.
Jim Crow would be not serving these men. The fact that a place of business limits its restroom facilities to paying customers especially in big cities has been going on for as liong as I can remember for my 69 years. I remember as a young man 50 years ago being told to either buy something or leave.
Bogus race baiting.
Why would you ask to use a bathroom? I recently used the ladies room at the Starbucks in Lambertville, NJ. I just walked in and went inside. No one stopped me.
And just how does he know that no white people in any of Starbucks thousands of stores were ever asked to leave over the years? Or that a white person never had the police called on them because they were barbecuing in that park? Two anecdotes and apparently this is proof that Jim Crow still exists.
Funny, I live in Oregon and had to purchase something before I was able to use the rest room. Store manager told me, his restrooms were for customers only. I am white.
I have not spent 5 min i9n a starbucks
It’s interesting to note that all of Dr. Kahrl’s examples occurred in liberal bastions, Oakland, CA, Philly, and Connecticut. The irony seems lost on him.
More fake news and lies designed to brainwash the uninformed further.
“Quality of life laws serve as a potent instrument of racial segregation.”
Oy. So let’s just scrap them all?
Principal Spooner: “Lisa, what are you so offended about?”
Lisa: “Whaddya got?”
