For those who like Rock-n-Roll versions of classical pieces.
This is the one that started the cannon rock revival

It is, indeed, a thing:

Black when VH1 Classic was worth a damn, they did a series on the history of metal and one episode was devoted to metal’s classical roots.
A bit sloppy. Check out the Ry Cooder, Steve Vai duel in the movie “Crossroads” for a better effort.
YOu are kidding.
right?
The rock version had none of the complexity of the classical version.
It is an outline filled with noise.
The only rock band I have seen with anything close to the talent and complexity of classical music was Jethro Tull.
I discovered Tanya and Dorise a few weeks ago, from a thread on FR - now have a lot of beautiful music on my ‘wish list’.
(This piece is one of my favorites - I first heard it while driving up a mountain. The ‘rock guitar’ rendition is interesting, but not an improvement.)
to each his own, I guess
I know. Rock is life.

But THIS one makes me laugh every single time I see it:
Back in 1970 or so, The Move included “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring” in “Cherry Blossom Clinic Revisited”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHAzNU4Vsus
The band was the precursor to ELO
The Move was awesome, So was the Nice
It was ELP’s first album that got me into prog way back in seems like forever ago.
The cellists, Luka ulić and Stjepan Hauser, (2Cellos) are both Croatian.
They are also classically trained, and have some very good straight classical videos out as well.
