The CW's Supergirl is casting a transgender character who will play a significant role in the DC Comics-based show's upcoming fourth season, ComicBook.com has learned from multiple sources.
This news originates in a casting notice for a character called Nia Nal, described as a transgender woman in her early 20s. The character is being cast with open ethnicity, meaning that they do not have a specific ethnic background in mind. She may be positioned to take over the newsroom, as she comes in with a strong journalism background a la Snapper Carr and is described as a young Cat Grant type.
Ironically, Cat Grant left the news industry to work in government, serving as press secretary to President Olivia Marsdin.
According to the casting call obtained by ComicBook.com, Jia will be a confident, wunderkind of a fashionista. Once a political speechwriter, Nia is the newest addition to the CatCo investigative reporting team. With her she brings sparlking wit and biting humor but under that banter-y, chic facade, lays a soulful young woman who has much to offer the world.

Just what I need, another reason to not watch the show.
I’m still trying to figure out how Supergirl has pierced Ears.
Did the Earring Kiosk at the Mall have a needle made of Kryptonite?
+1
Clip on’s? Not to be confused with the new strap on’s next season.
And only a smaller number of homsexuals are cross dressers.
And of course the token transvestite is a leader, a fashionista, etc etc. why not nebbish and old?
I posted a picture to the thread
“Ive been calling for a transgendered superhero to be called Weiner Woman.”
Nah, just mishmash a figure from mythology. Instead of the Mighty Aphrodite we go with the “MIGHTY HERMAPHRODITE “.
Just think of all the fun visuals.
Leather platform knee boots.
Instead of Linda Carter booty cutter shorts we go with a thong....with a codpiece!
Bare rippling midriff of course with some type of BDSM looking “rack holder upper” in metal or mesh.
The guys can watch the rack jiggle while the gals and gays watch the “package” bobble.
Long flowing hair and a three day beard to top everything off.
The only question is do we go au natural with the body hair?
Pubes overflowing the codpiece?
Nasty hairy pits?
Fur covered arms and legs?
Best of all is no need for a secret identity because these days it’s ALL good!
Dang! I oughta be in Hollywood!
I quit Supergirl towards the end of season two, when they had Superman admit that Supergirl was stronger and beat him in a fight fair & square.
Dumbest thing ever.
I miss Martian Manhunter, though. Best thing on the show.
Note that Batwoman will also be featured on next season’s big crossover event, and I think she’s a lesbian.
Honestly, how many transgender people are there in this Country?
Rowwrrrr....
There is a Legion character in the books called Nura Nal who is called Dream Girl because she can see the future.
She has a sister called Mysa Nal who is called the White Witch and uses magic.
Dream Girl was always very sexual - but in a committed relationship with one of the male characters.
White Witch was very reserved and unattached though she had a very strong friendship with an alien stone guy called Blok (sorta an elemental physically).
Neither had anything to do with the News.
They keep taking great characters and corrupting them when all they need to do is tell a good story.
If they wanted a transgender they should have taken Chameleon Boy since his race doesn’t really have a sex and are all shape-shifters to begin with... if they felt it was absolutely necessary to the story.
Are there any men in this show? I watched (unfortunately) the billboard awards and you’d never know there are men in this world. I feel sorrow for the young boys in this Country.
They ruined him with the supergirl romance and having him jump to the future instead of enduring 1000 years in the phantom zone.
That 1000 years gave him a subdued and more mature aspect in the books.
Plus Saturn girl is a telepath not a telekinetic as in the show and she has a relation with a different character, while Mon-el is with a character called Shadow Lass. They’ve screwed the pooch on this one.
I will give them credit for a fairly decent Brainiac 5 though.
actually it was in the 60s when Olsen had his own magazine...so before our time... though I’ve gotten a lot of them since then.
Pre-op or Post-op superhero or will the audience be left to wonder?
