Hi Everyone.
OK this is a bit unusual. I was just on YouTube however, and found this live link, for the erupting volcano there right now.
I will link in the next post, to the video. Live.

Thanks!
It’d be great if you could SHUT THAT DAMN CHICKEN UP !
that rooster stole the show earlier on . .
He’ll be fine. We have property just south of Hilo and I know the area well. The volcano is actually quite a drive away from Hilo and this lava flow too. Most people don’t understand just how big the Big Island is. I’m headed back over there in September.
Wow. Excellent. Thanks.
You’re welcome. I would consider it required viewing for anyone wanting to know the story of Hawaii’s volcanoes.
The Rooster seems to have his own twitter feed. and the chat window has a drinking game every time he crows!
@TheLavaRooster
There has GOT to be a way to funnel that out of the ocean floor and make a new island.
There must be a lot of plastered people!
BTTT
I don't know if you were able to watch this afternoon but they panned the camera to the left for a short time. I was stunned to see the difference in the landscape around fissure 17, which I posted a scap of in post #17 last night. The cinder cone is massive now. I'd read that it had died down but it's still plenty active, throwing lava and lava bombs as much as it did last week.
When they panned back to the right towards fissure 22, I got a scap of the plume rising from the ocean where the lava is flowing into it.
And this shot of 22 gives a better idea of how far away the guys are from it.
I’m glad you wee able to finally get in touch with your friend. Imagination can be a great thing but it can also drive one crazy under circumstances like this. Glad to hear he’s ok.
People who live there know there are always chances of something like this happening. Just like I know that living in “tornado alley” means there’s a chance of getting hit by one. But we take our chances and hope for the best. Sometimes, our luck runs out but we just put the pieces back together and carry on. Been there, done that, it’s not fun.
The folks in HI will eventually get to put their lives back in order, though it’s going to take a while. They’ve done it many times before and will do it many times in the future. They do it because they love living there.
It’s just not fun at all while they go through the rebuilding of their lives.
Thank you.
I’m worrying much less, now.
:)
People may not understand why I love the Appalachians...but nothing happens, here.
No hurricanes, no tornadoes, no volcanoes, and the only earthquake we’ve had in forever barely wiggled the stuff on the shelves.
Boring is good.
:)
Been through all of those but a volcano here. Had several tornados in the area (one a direct hit), hurricanes Opal and Katrina were still hurricanes when they passed over us, and had a couple of small quakes. But I like living here more than anywhere else I’ve lived. I like a little excitement. LOL!
The most excitement I can stand these days is watching a new episode of The Walking Dead.
And then I need a nap.
:)
