I’m glad you wee able to finally get in touch with your friend. Imagination can be a great thing but it can also drive one crazy under circumstances like this. Glad to hear he’s ok.

People who live there know there are always chances of something like this happening. Just like I know that living in “tornado alley” means there’s a chance of getting hit by one. But we take our chances and hope for the best. Sometimes, our luck runs out but we just put the pieces back together and carry on. Been there, done that, it’s not fun.

The folks in HI will eventually get to put their lives back in order, though it’s going to take a while. They’ve done it many times before and will do it many times in the future. They do it because they love living there.

It’s just not fun at all while they go through the rebuilding of their lives.

People may not understand why I love the Appalachians...but nothing happens, here.

No hurricanes, no tornadoes, no volcanoes, and the only earthquake we’ve had in forever barely wiggled the stuff on the shelves.

Boring is good.
