Mueller's best play is to fold up his tent and call it a day, giving The Donald a clean bill of health. Maybe take down Manafort to save face. He can only hope to save his deep state masters if, after concluding his farce, somehow things just go back to the way they were. I'm sure the media will cooperate in this effort. They are getting worried too.
I think not, though. They really have no option but to fight to the death. The pushback has now reached D5 status and there's no stopping it.

Well, they have another option...the “best play” you mentioned.
I’ve seen nothing though to indicate they ever do anything but push things to destructive extremes. Like you, I doubt they wise up this time.
