At one time, it was believed that it was just the antibiotics that killed off the good gut bacteria....however, all the most recent research suggests that nearly 25% of prescription medication do the same thing from antipsychotics to antivirals.

This is almost certainly one of the primary reasons why people who have little access to our fine medical system have been shown repeatedly to be more healthy and live longer than those who visit medical professionals frequently. There is of course a happy medium in the middle along the lines of a yearly checkup to catch problems that might be doing you in.

Did spending almost unimaginable sums of money on Obamacare have any positive effect on the health of our population??? There is absolutely no evidence at all to support this supposition! In fact it appears to be just the opposite. What did it accomplish? A huge sum of money wasted! An army of newly minted bureaucrats. A whole lot of additional prescription drugs consumed! And a measurably less healthy population since the beginning of its implementation! Leftist feel good BS in action with a predictable result.

“But the term dextrose is referring to the sugar in its crystalline form.”

Looking it up, I see that even this is just more of a general guideline. There are references to a “dextrose solution” which is obviously not in a crystalline form. So “never mind!”.

I've had a very intensive education on blood sugars, insulin, and just surviving due to it.

Glad too read you are coping with these problems. I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). I just wonder if this means consumption of sugar (sweet tooth here)would have a lesser effect. This than on the ordinary person. Just throwing out the thought here.

You and my wife need to trade blood transfusions monthly. She eats 15 carbs for the whole day and has a 182 reading. She eats right and very small portions (I would starve on what she eats) and exercises and the doctors have just about gave up on her.

What do you mean given up? Is it lipids, weight, cancer that is the problem?

” But giving more sugar to cancer cells doesn’t speed their growth. Likewise, depriving cancer cells of sugar doesn’t slow their growth.”

Thanks for the information. Looks like it's a myth.

"It is SUGAR"

Yep, and currently they're doing phase 3 trials adding metformin to standard of care chemo. Metformin moderates glucose levels and it is already approved for use with diabetics.

My mother has metastasized uterine cancer. Chemo slowed it down and shrunk the tumors but the cancer cells adjusted and it lost its effectiveness. She was also put on the metformin trial but we never did find out if she got the real thing or placebo.

During the last few months while determining from Foundation One if there was any other treatments available for her I asked the doctor to keep Her on the real deal Metformin if nothing else while we were waiting to see if there was other any other effective drugs available.

If you have a “sweet tooth” it most likely indicates that you have an overgrowth of Candida in the gut... and elsewhere. Candida thrives on sweets/sugar. If you have taken any antibiotics in the past you’ve probably killed off most of the “good” gut bacteria and Candida has taken over.

Cutting down on sweets can help, but the Candida is still there. Two good supplements that will help reduce Candida are undecylenic acid and caprylic acid. Taking *good* probiotics is essential also. You need more than just acidophillus. Find some probiotics that contain many different strains. Read the labels!

This combination can help reduce Candida but it does take time. Nothing happens fast, you have to repopulate your gut with the good bacteria, balancing out the bad ones. You’ll find your “sweet tooth” goes away as the Candida does.

Plus, if the Candida is thriving on the sugar in your body, that means there is less for your body to use... thus hypoglycemia.

They are exasperated that their cookie cutter plans for treating Type 2 diabetes and weight control aren’t working. Most patients they see are easy fixes. Cut back on the snack foods and get up and exercise. My wife already does that. So they are somewhat flummoxed and don’t believe her. One asked her to do an phone app so they could monitor how far and fast she was really walking.

OK. That's what I thought might be the issue. I'm going to link you to some Video that might be helpful in case you haven't seen or heard of this. Dr. Fung has worked with Diabetics for some time, and he has been successful in treating some hard cases.

The Two Big Lies of Type 2 Diabetes

I don't have diabetes, but I do have insulin resistance, and I was feeling like I was starving and often got shaky. Watching his Vids helped me a lot. All my lipids have returned to normal, and I'm losing weight, not even doing much exercise.

All good is his series on Etiemology of Obesity. Hope this is helpful for your wife.

Your post #109.

I am grateful for your careful informative reply. I now realise that my over indulgence of sweets must end. Another phase of my life has to begin. I no longer drink alcohol and somehow do not miss it. As you stated, I should find that candy etc. will not tempt me.

I note that a health store gave me Acidophilus and Bifidus in tablet form, but I stopped taking them. I forget what I had stated what problem I needed them for. Due for a complete rethink and some research by me. Anyway, one grateful Freeper here for what others are able to suggest.

I did some reading and did not know anything about blood pressure. Just relied on the medical professional who took mine and said "you are ok". Yes,the warning bells go off at 182. I wish the best for your wife and yourself.

.
This is simple misdirection.

There is no food that is harmful to eat, as long as we obey what Yehova calls food.

The problems we are now having are caused by the depletion of our soils from using manufactured fertilizers. Without proper soils malnutrition brings disease that cannot be cured by anything but proper nutrition.

There are no magic bullets to sell, so don’t buy any.

Seek nutritional help from someone that has studied nutrition. Avoid alopathic doctors like the plague, because they cannot help you even if they want to.

“Find some probiotics that contain many different strains”

Drink kefir. I use LifeWay brand, found in almost any grocery store. Plus it gives you the endurance of a Caucasus warrior!

We want to feel good about ourselves.

Run. No walk fast. No bicycle. Run 20 to 30 mins 3 times a week. It is work, until run is over, then ecstacy.

You will get high, good high. It will replace sweet sugar high. Your body will naturally shun bad food and desire good food. Veggie spinach. Fruit watermelon. Pure ice water.

Slowly you will dilute away sugar drinks, dilute with water.
The feel good high lasts days.
