The earliest story that I read on this this morning, said the man gave the name “Peter” (not Pedro (which is the same name in spanish)) But due to the accent the ‘barrista’ misunderstood and thought he said “Beaner”. This is almost certainly what happened. Because of "Peter's" thick accent, the soft-bodied, tweed beanie-wearing hipster heard "Beaner" and figured "the customer is always right." The offended beaner later asked, via a translator, why his friends didn't get the same treatment. Obviously the "barista" didn't have any problem understanding their names.
