Lindsey Buckingham has publicly addressed his firing from Fleetwood Mac for first time.

The 68-year-old was playing a fundraiser gig for Democratic congressional candidate Mike Levin in California on Friday night, when he spoke about his sacking three months ago.

And Neil Finn can write some great music.

Big Crowded House fan here. Never considered going to a FM concert but with Neil in the group I’d definitely give it some serious thought. The guy is way underappreciated.

Yeah, I would think imitating Buckingham would be pretty easy.

I really think a lot of these older rock bands like Mac, KISS, Aerosmith, and the Stones need to hang it up for good!

As long as they still sell tickets, they won’t stop earning. If theaters full of people would pay $99 each to hear me croak out a song, I might be tempted as well.

I don’t think so... Have caught their last couple of tours.... last time it was the entire original line up as even McVie had returned...

Without Lindsey its not Fleetwood Mac, at least not the Fleetwood Mac that most folks know... its not by accident that they didn’t really break out until he and Stevie joined.. and while he’s certainly no saint, without him, there is little point to see the band...

Those two completed the Band, and that isn’t to take away from the very real talent that the other members have. I have no doubt that they will put on great shows without him, but for me anyway, I doubt I will go again.

I am glad I got to see the entire original lineup one last time...

They aren't the 'originals'..........FM had gone thru personnel changes even before Nicks and Lindsey............

Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, and Danny Kirwin

A lot of talent there, a triple dose of mental instability too. Green Manalishi still kicks ass after all these years, but nobody I know who wasn't around at the time recognizes the band. And "Who wrote Black Magic Woman?" has achieved the status of a bar bet. Green still plays, Kirwan doesn't; in fact, he ended up on the street at one point.

That was a long, long time ago.

But remember, Mark Farner decided he wanted to be a keyboard player. When they added Craig Frost the band sucked anyway. Mark, Mel and Don with no keyboards is the only way I would ever pay to see them again and I gather Mark is not speaking to Mel and Don because they screwed him.

Very true, but there is no denying that the addition of Buckingham And Nicks are what allowed the band to become what it became....

Without them they are not the band they became.. there is no Rumours, there is no Fleetwood Mac Albumn, there is no Tusk.. or at least not as they were...

These songs never likely get recorded if Buckingham and Nicks didn’t join:

Monday Morning,
Rhiannon,
Landslide,
I’m So Afraid,
Second Hand News,
Dreams,
Never Going back Again,
Go your own way,
I don’t want to know,
Gold Dust woman.

And that just on the first 2 albums after they joined... doesn’t include any cowriting credits by them or arrangement or production input they both provided to other songs etc.

Reality is, without Buckingham being asked to join, and him insisting if you take him you take Stevie Nicks too... Fleetwood Mac would likely never become what it became.

And to be fair, Buckingham has to take the fall for the hard fall that was TUSK as well.. but even that, mirage, and Tango in the night were still multi platinum albums.

it was only the albums completely without Buckinghams involvement where Fleetwood Mac Studio Albums dropped once again below platinum

Yes they did, and they had never managed to chart an album higher than the mid 30s in the US, and I would bet if you polled 100 random folks 50 and older, in the US anyway, they couldn’t tell you 1 Fleetwood Mac song prior to Lindsey/Nicks joining the band

Agreed, But FM never had less than a multi platinum albumn in the US when Lindsay was with the band... Can pretend otherwise, but their track record prior to his joining was 1 out of 9 albumns had managed to single platinum in the US and 2 had managed to gold...

Albums he was part of the band for:

5x Platinum
20x Platinum
2x Platinum
2x Platinum
3x Platinum

and after he left the band... never got above gold on a studio album.

‘Buckingham-Nicks’ (I’ve still got that album!) received heavy airplay on the ‘FM alternative Rock’ stations prior to them joining The Big Mac.

Even had the not, they would still have been a musical force ...............

Not sure who you are talking to, but that album flopped, and Nicks and Buckingham were debating what to do next... you are welcome to go read both of their comments over the years on this.

I am not debating Buckingham and Nicks talent, I am stating that FM would not have become what it did without them.

It may have flopped nationally, but where I was at the time it was pretty good. It was played on the FM stations in Florida, and that’s where I first heard it. It’s raw and not well mixed, by today’s standards, but you can hear the beginnings of what would later became the Fleetwood Mac ‘sound’..................

LB almost sounds like Stevie Nicks...same nasally sound. They’re coming to Orlando soon. Not gonna do it.
