HORRY COUNTY, S.C. A mother in South Carolina received a special Mother's Day gift Sunday after the staff at a Ruby Tuesday's noticed she was eating lunch by herself.
According to WMBF, Barbara Foy went to get lunch by herself at the Ruby Tuesday near Surfside Beach after she didn't receive a call from her son on Mother's Day. She said he hasn't called her for some time.
When the staff realized Foy was eating alone, they pitched in to make her a Mother's Day gift basket filled with goodies.
Foy's lunch was also paid for, and a customer bought her a rose.
"I really felt like I was queen for a day, mother for a day!" Foy said. "I've never been made to feel so special."
Lauren Nave, the general manager of the Ruby Tuesday, said Foy touched the entire staff by her story.

You’re a good, decent person. You did the right thing. Men seem to have less guilt about this. My brother also wasn’t there for my mom but when the estate was settled, he handed over all his inheritance to me “because I deserved it.” (I like my brother!)
Oh, thank you! For me it was just that the guilt would have outweighed the benefits. I hate guilt and tend to feel it because of my pre-Vatican 2 childhood, lol!
Inheritance? Lucky you. lol Most of my family is super poor and even the cost of funerals have fell on us. My brother did pay for half of our stepdad and mom’s funerals.
I would bet money those girls were all raised in church.
God bless all of them and their mamas too.
Oh, I am lucky. No doubt about that.
Or she’s toxic.
Parents act like their children are goldfish - no memory and no ability for rational thought.
They pursue their own agendas, and then suddenly the kids are gone (escaped), they run out of people to exploit, and so they act like their owed something from their kids.
They aren’t. Parents pay it forward, because their parents did the same, and so on.
You thank God for the privilege of raising kids, and then you die.
Boomer women. Wow.
Sorry, I know its a group and their are exceptions, but the numbers don’t like.
The errant son needs to be identified and publicly shamed.
How do you know that? Maybe there is another side of the story here. Don’t be quick to jump to conclusions here.
There is a Commandment from the God of the universe to us all, with a promise attached. Honor thy egg and sperm donor so your life may be long in the land.
Like em or not. The biology of family is crucially sacred. That is why no divorce. No IVF. No surrocacy. Adoptive parents are to be loved for their great love. But honor to the biological.
God gave us biology.
I had to walk away. My wife, a couple friends and family members suggested it would be better for me.
Toxic abusive relationship.
Sometimes you simply have to walk away.
Self preservation.
Sometimes people don’t understand, but they don’t know the back stories.
After doing so, I’m healthier.
Sadly, she’s still the same from what I hear.
We can’t change others. We can’t make them nice, caring, or loving. We can’t change the brokenness that is inside abusive people. Often, even if it is a parent, once must walk away.
I wish her the best.
...and I also wish me the best.
No.
My bio “parents” divorced and left me in foster care so they could play and live as they pleased.
Biology means nothing.
I say that as a parent to two adopted children.
My “parents”get exactly what they gave. Nothing.
If you do what God commands, you might help save their souls.
What a beautiful thing!
I was told by a very wise man. Just call. Talk about weather or tv. Do not expect anything. Care for them in their need.
Duty calls and has unkown consequences.
She has a daughter to do this.
Thank you
I’m pretty sure God has commands for parents too.
They can go first...
That goes to the heart of Christian forgiveness. You did the right thing, you forgave. That didn’t make her behavior right or acceptable but you were left with no regrets and none of the toxicity of continuing to carry the anger, resentment, hurt and pain. You let it go and did right by her and by God.
Once you get back inland away from Myrtle Beach, Horry County is a fine place. Country black folks there are fine people by and large, and far more African than in the rest of the country. Many poor as church mice but kind and decent.
I understand and also wish you the best.
