Dicks Sporting Goods has just lost a ton of business due to its politically correct gun control move, post-Parkland school shooting.
O.F. Mossberg & Sons Inc., which owns Mossberg guns, announced they would no longer deal with Dicks. And that was just after MKS Supply, the maker of Hi-Point firearms, and Springfield Armory pulled business from Dicks as well.
The backlash is hardly surprising. Mess with Americans guns and Americans will use their voices via purchasing power to mess back. Dicks made a sorry misstep in the wake of the horrific Parkland shooting by announcing the end of sales of assault-style weapons at all of its stores, and a new ban on sales of certain types of firearms to those under the age of 21 and, more recently, the hiring of lobbyists to sell a gun control message to congressional members on Capitol Hill.

Maybe Dick’s calculated a surge in other sports accessories such as golf, tennis, shoes etc... when in fact gun sports kept them above water. Internet sales dominate the other sports accessories market sales and includes doorstep delivery!
Don't get me wrong. I hope Dicks goes under ASAP, but without sales numbers, this is speculation, not news.
5/15/17 share price 47.57 ... 5/11/18 share price 31.71
Rated by some as a strong pass despite its $2.67 dividend
Im sure they dont mind. Im confident their shareholders dont mind either.
I suspect the shareholders are getting restless right about ow.
Mossberg Joins Springfield, Cuts Dicks Off.
You know it was deliberate.
Ive bought 1 thing from Dicks since they came to town about 10 years ago. And it was something I absolutely looked everywhere for but Dicks had online, shipped to their store, and put together for free for me. A large $500 beach bike that they had on sale for $300. Couldnt touch one like it anywhere else or I would have moved on.
When I went in to pick it up I noticed our Dicks has mostly clothing. Lots and lots of clothing in the front and middle of the store with golf stuff and bikes on the outer edges of the store.
I can find no evidence of our protesting ever breaking one window or burning one car. End results of our public protests is there’s less trash in that area then there was when we got there.
Load up a cart with the most expensive and small golfing, camping, shoes, etc. stuff you can find.
Then either see a manager or leave a note, saying, sorry, but you just remembered Dicks gun control policy and can't buy their junk.
A lot of small stuff to cost them time and money putting it back.
Always be friendly, with a smile.
AFAIC, Dicks is just another, mediocre big box store run by pearl-clutching asshats who’re more worried about being PC than running a business. I went there once some years and was underwhelmed. They didn’t have what I wanted. I’ve shopped with Cabela’s (now Bass Pro) for decades and will stick with them.
At the risk of staying the obvious, DON’t be a DICK!
Yes, they do have a LOT of clothing! I don’t know what state you live in, but I’m 2 hours from the Atlantic Ocean, so the Dick’s around here have a good deal of fishing equipment.
We have Dick's Sporting Goods stores all over the place here in CT. At minor league baseball and hockey games they're always giving away Dick's $10 off coupons. I can count on one hand how many times I've bought anything at an overpriced Dick's store.
Sweet.
I love the gurgling sound of PC company stocks circling the toilet bowl in the morning!
The two nearest stores besides Wal-Mart with outdoor gear are both Dick’s, 10 and 20 miles away. Next closes is Bass Pro 50 miles one way and Cabela’s 50 miles the other way.
Bass Pro and Cabela’s it is.
That was a good headline!
2 hours from the Pacific.
There is probably enough room in the store for the homeless to pitch a few tents in the aisles overnight too
You vill join the union.
Or ve vill make you.
Good luck having driven off your base and reduced to selling only yoga pants to soccer moms and fags, Dick’s.
