Two Russian TU-95 bombers nearing US airspace off the coast of Alaska on Friday were intercepted by two F-22 ...

Alaska is the size of France and Germany.
The Russians are going to bomb Alaska? Better talk to the environmentalists first.
The other day some people complained about a couple sonic booms that the AF said was training missions. Nope. This was the jets heading out at full speed toward the Ruskies. Sound of freedom baby!
Nothing unusual here. The CAC’s may have been eliminated at the sites in Alaska, but the mission is still the same and this is an example of it.
Years ago, the Air Force had loaded F-15’s situated in different sites across the state and were deployed often to “welcome” visiting Russian aircraft to escort them back to their side of the line. It would happen a few times a month. Just an expensive game of chicken. We haven’t lost one yet. (At least not from an enounter like this.)

In a telling section, it was written that:
Dobrynin has noted that post-Stalin leaders believed the "existing political and social structure of the United States was the best guarantee against an unprovoked first strike against us." He claims, however, that in the early 1980s some Soviet leaders, including Andropov, changed their minds. Why? Dobrynin's reply, quoting Andropov, was that President Reagan was "unpredictable." That answer seems too simplistic--and too "un-Soviet" in that it attaches so much weight to personalities...
I suspect Russia is scared of Trump and is seeing how far the crazy guy from Queens may go. This is all good stuff.
Sooo, the Russians were finally able to get a couple of 50+ year old Bear turboprops off the ground to play target for some fifth-gen F-22 Raptors. This used to happen all the time. Apparent Puti-put is flexing his “muscles” for the domestic market. Bears are fast for old turboprops, but they would simply be flaming balls against any US fighter. Even old ones. It’s good training for our pilots, though. Let’s hope they keep it up, eh?
This can’t be possible, the lefties told us it was absurd when Sarah Palin said Russia was close to Alaska.
So now instead of colluding with Russia, they’ll change the narrative to Trump’s a war-monger, or will it be, “Trump and Putin staged a border confrontation in order to debunk the collusion narrative.”
We’re in the twilight zone, people.
But it is. Over yonder’s Vladivostok. In fact, Alaska used to be Russian territory. Of course, if Sara Palin said it, it has to be wrong.
If it was a real attack, I'm quite sure, once the missiles are loosed, they are considered expendable.
