CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- Officials said a woman was attacked and killed by a neighbor's dogs on Thursday night.

Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant said the victim -- whose name has not yet been released -- was attacked by seven dogs and later died from her injuries.

Bryant said the incident happened before 10 p.m. at a residence just east of Ardmore on Banyon Road. He said one of the dogs was a pit bull; the others were medium-sized dogs of other breeds, all with the same owner.

"Once we were notified that this female had succumbed to her injuries, the owner of the dogs decided to put the dogs down," Sheriff Bryant said.

There have been no arrests. Bryant said he believes the victim lived in the area of the attack.

"It's really scary because my kids play out here all the time," one neighbor told KTEN. "Even if I'm out here with them, it's just scary having dogs roaming around attacking people."

There is no "leash law" in unincorporated areas of Carter County.

"Most municipalities do, but the county does not," Sheriff Bryant said. "Just be aware your your surroundings and if you have any issues with livestock or animals or anything like that, please give us a call."

I wonder if this is the woman who people said these dogs were actually eating her when the police arrived....either way these attacks are bloody and ugly to say the least, for anyone to try and stop .....shooting is the only way to stop it.

.....”eradicate the breed.....

I agree...we had a family member with one that he could not control....no one would go there so he got rid of the dog.

Any two or more dogs running off the owner’s property is a pack. Any pack running on land other than the owner’s in a rural setting should be shot on sight! That was the standing rule we as farmers had in a 5-mile area. We knew our neighbors and we all agreed on this. There were instances where dog packs killed farm animals for the sheer fun of it, especially sheep. No hard feelings on killing the dogs. Get it done. Start over. This was not caused by a single dog, but the packing instinct of the mutts.

"This approach, or something similar - the same that one uses against a bully - appears to be effective in a number of cases. Since so many pit bull “apologists” usually act in the manner of bullies — intimidation by fear, insults, and threats — of the first order, it is important, nay essential, to stand up to them.

This approach or similar ones is not without its risks, but I am becoming more and more convinced that it is necessary.

Then have a look at this. There's a list of agencies with links in the article.

For Medieval-minded folks who choose not to carry firearms (preferring axes, knives, hammers, bludgeoning instruments, sprays, tasers, feet, bare hands, etc.), it may still work for you. But call and ask or look at what the policies offer to be sure.

Beat the crooks with bad dogs, and if necessary, their officious local boss-gangsters in both criminal and civil courts. Should be enough money there to climb from the local-yocal gangsta courts to higher levels (or federal courts) and win.

When an animal kills a human being I consider it newsworthy, and if you are paying attention, it just so happens most of the time the animal involved is a pitbull.
