Huma Abedin says she’s grown incredibly close to fashion designer Georgina Chapman, the estranged wife of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, saying the pair is part of a club of women whom “people don’t feel sorry for.”
“We just…bonded,” said Abedin, who is similarly estranged from her husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), in the June issue of Vogue released Thursday.
Weiner is serving a 21-month prison sentence for sexting a 15-year-old girl. Abedin, a former top aide to Hillary Clinton
who served as vice chair of Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, filed for divorce from him last year.
She told the magazine she began to bond with Chapman after allegations of sexual abuse against Weinstein broke last year.
“In allll kinds of ways,” Abedin told Vogue. “This particular club, ironically, it’s not such a small one: women who have had to endure it in such a public way, women like Georgina and me."

“People don’t feel sorry for us; you don’t get that empathy,” Abedin, 41, said of herself and Chapman. “People think you’re beautiful, you’re thin, you’re rich, you’re photographed on the red carpet, and you get stuck in this category. There’s so much more depth beyond all that with Georgina.”
