Being an officially degreed Germanic linguist (from a major university), I'm comfortable taking an edumacated stab at the etymology of 'hakluyt'.

There is no question these two juxtaposed roots are of Germanic origin, more specifically, originating in the low-lands, now mostly subsumed in what is called the Netherlands.

'Luyt' would be a spelling variant of present-day 'luid', meaning sound.
'Hak' is the "sound" one makes to "hock a loogie" in the vernacular. In this case, it would likely not have had the pejorative connotation modern-day English speakers might associate with that.

Dutch has some unusual sounds of which foreigners to their speech would likely take note. (In WWII, the Dutch used one unusual sound that Germans had extreme difficulty making as a way to identify (then capture or kill) stealthy enemies.)
The voiceless rear velar fricative/affricate/uvular trill (alternate) is one of those.

It's the sound one might make if one catches a bug in the back of the throat then tries to eject it with lunge of air in combination while maintaining a velar (-almost pharyngeal) constriction.

A sound placed closely to that Netherlandic sound also occurs initially in the New Zealand/Maori word for their well-known dance, the haka.

The bottom line is that the name was likely notable, distinctive and a thing of pride for its original, Netherlandic "wearer(s)."

American politics has become so toxic, so corrupt and so single-mindedly partisan on the part of the Democrats, as to border on treason

It’s outrageous that the Democrats are attempting to enlist the assistance of Khalid Sheik Mohammed to attempt to block the confirmation of Gina Haspel, a 30-year career CIA agent, as Director of the CIA. It’s even more outrageous that the Senate Intelligence Committee would consider a submission by the mastermind of the 9/11 outrage that resulted in the death of 3,000+ Americans.

Mohammed has asked a military judge at the Guantanamo Bay military prison yesterday to forward an attachment containing “six specific paragraphs of information” that supposedly details Haspel’s wrongdoing for inclusion in the Senate Committee’s considerations. One can only guess who encouraged Mohammed to write these paragraphs and try to send them to Washington....

Yes, #StormyDaniels was in #NXIVM, more specifically the DOS (slave master thing, they get the brand). I know the rumor has been getting circulated, but at this point I can say (at least for myself) it's substantiated.

What broke it was the discovery of this 2010 #StormyDaniels tweet. I have verified it's real, though it might soon be deleted.
