Stormy Daniels’s attorney Michael Avenatti said Tuesday that President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen received $500,000 in the months after the 2016 election from a company run by a Russian oligarch with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Avenatti said that the funding may have been used to reimburse the $130,000 payment Cohen made to Daniels to stay quiet about her alleged affair with Trump.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani revealed last week that Trump had reimbursed Cohen $130,000, which was given to Daniels just weeks before the 2016 election. Cohen had earlier claimed that the non-disclosure payment came from his own funds, and Trump had told he was unaware it had been been made.
Giuliani, who recently joined Trump’s personal legal team, has said that Trump only recently learned of the payment to Daniels, and he has not ruled out the possibility that Cohen made payments to other women on Trump's behalf.

Financial records like these — when part of a judicial proceeding — would need to go through a court process with arguments presented to a judge and a decision handed down to allow access. If these records are real, the release of this info is far more disturbing than one could imagine.

The only way, it seems to me that he could have come across this information is if someone leaked it to him from the Mueller raid of his offices. But that would look very bad for Mueller, and would underscore that the two are working hand-in-glove to take down Trump, and nothing else.
The company is an American company owned and operated by Americans. None of the company’s decisions involving Cohen have any involvement by the Russian oligarch.
