“Bizarre episodes like firing the ashes of Hunter S Thompson from a cannon (cost: $3m)”
No sympathy, here.

Robert Downey Jr Guy's got a good gig. Shows up in the biggest movies of the year for bit cameos, plays a version of himself making snarky comments, walks away with millions.

Yes, I have heard him to be very personable and friendly with just about every one. He is just like us, has drug and alcohol problems and now money problems................

It sounds like he is stuck in character from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

I see the two performances as “Ford vs Chevy”. I like ‘em both but for different reasons.
I have to say that the Wilder version seems oddly malevolent in a sort of “he knows what he’s doing” sort of way, while Depps is more of a “dumb giant in ‘Of mice and men’” who killed the woman and didn’t even know it was happening because, well, he’s really not all there.
i.e. the wilder character was a bit more “realistic”, if that could even apply to the character.

Depp's troubles began when he went to Miramar High School in the mid-1970s. Also being a transplant to the Broward County School system in the 1970s, I can sympathize...
At least I went to a WEST Broward high school... ;-)

I was viewing a Depp thread on another site and got to wondering if I’d seen any of his movies. So I went to the Wikipedia site and reviewed them. Thought maybe I’d seen one or two, but when I looked at the plot synopsis of them they weren’t what I thought they were. I guess I’ve not seen anyo of his movies.
Haven’t really avoided him on purpose, just the movies he makes never seem to appeal to me enough to watch. That said, I don’t go to many movies. And even fewer lately.

The ONLY good part of Murder on the Orient Express is that he died really early in the movie.
