By 1979, at least in my neck of the woods, we had had cable television for a long time.
There are many forms of Alzheimer’s dementia. While some people do get very aggressive, some don’t. Some can be medicated to take the edge off their terrible irritability and confusion. It is a mercy to take away someone’s irrational anger for which they can do nothing. Two of my moms meds are to help her stay on an even emotional keel and she is lively and not drugged out. It’s best to try because there is no recovery or getting better. I don’t understand some who say they don’t want to ever drug their family member. If I was obsessed over one branch on a tree or one drawer of socks, and kept railing about it, please drug me. Mom enjoys her books and tv and doesn’t seem drugged.
Does anyone ever know for sure what they would do when confronted by such a devastating disease?

Everyone here was on coke in the 80s and none of them had his rapid fire comedy talent. That came from genius, not the coca plant.
With Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, the people generally don’t “comprehend” that they are losing themselves.
My dad before he passed from it too used to give medical treatments to his stuffed dogs. He was always doing orthopedic things to their legs. Your grandma reminded me of that.
I met quite a few people working there. Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston, the politician guy with the heavy accent (brain fard), had lunch with Phyllis Diller.
When the Bakersfield Business Conference first started, the first 10 years was at the country club I worked at so saw a lot of the speakers.
