What do you reckon this means?
[reported today - resigned [false]] (Weird kill box)
and this
FIRED/FORCE (Did they have to escort them out of the building?)

To your question about “[reported today - resigned [false]] (Weird kill box),” I think the kill box there is just emphasis or explanatory remark. Report says resigned, report is false.
To your question about “FIRED/FORCE (Did they have to escort them out of the building?),” beats me, but I doubt they had to be carried out. I take that as simply fired.
The way brackets are used its like looking at someone Coding, except that its not coding.... [C++ anyone?] Is there some message hiding in there? Or just used to denote a second voice speaking behind the first?
Not really doll. Its just two kill boxes with one nested inside the other which requires two brackets to close both. Look closely and youll see the first left bracket before the word "reported" and the second left bracket before the word false" then there are two right bracket after "false" closing both kill boxes. See?
Proper grammar usually requires the use of different symbols. This may have helped:
[reported today - resigned (false)]
