Facing down an aggressive brain tumor that's kept him out of Washington for months, John McCain appears to be taking a hard look at his own mortality vis-a-vis his forthcoming book, The Restless Wave. "This is my last term," he writes in excerpts out now, via NPR and the Daily Beast. "If I hadn't admitted that to myself before this summer, a stage 4 cancer diagnosis acts as ungentle persuasion. I'm freer than colleagues who will face the voters again. I can speak my mind without fearing the consequences much."
On President Trump: "He has declined to distinguish the actions of our government from the crimes of despotic ones. The appearance of toughness, or a reality show facsimile of toughness, seems to matter more than any of our values."

Notice the self sanctimony of a statement like “I can be more free, now that I won’t have to face the voters...”
For John McCain, serving his constituents, has always been the most tedious, and galling part of his lordship.
From what I’ve read, John McCain wasn’t much of a pilot. Who knows, maybe he wasn’t much of an officer at all. But for what he endured and survived while a POW he has my admiration and respect and gratitude.
However, his record as a so-called Republican Senator is nothing that causes me to respect him. One of his last acts was to stop the repeal of obamacare, an act that I believe was motivated out of pure spite for President Trump. The Senate will be a better place without him.
So fair winds and following seas John McCain.

He has always said what he wanted but now he is even more dangerous because instead of reflecting on the damage he did he doubles down. So until he went missing he was trashing Trump, stopping him from getting legislative wins, and calling him out. He has no shame.
It is funny. McCain, Clinton and Obama all have the same narcissistic streak. It seems to be part and parcel of a Leftist’s outlook on the world.
Like a bad actor performing his death scene and keeps getting back up for one more revelations.
