What is more important, from the viewpoint of public policy and mass-movement popular politics, are the expressions on the faces of his followers: blank adoration, to the point of swooning. The political equivalent of “Here is our savior, who will mend all fences, assuage all pains, bind up all injuries, and bring justice forever. So say all of us True Believers.”
The comparisons with Herr Doktor Goebbels are very apt, but the resemblance between followers & supporters of the Nazis (as filmed in closeup by Leni Riefenstahl, and German newsreel camera operators) thronging, hungrily listening to Adolf Hitler, and today’s followers (teens & older ones) of young Master Hogg, is far more telling.
Saw it often back in 2007-2008, eyeing news vids of then-Senator Obama’s public appearances.
Saw it less in coverage of the campaigns of Secretary Clinton and Senator Sanders. By 2015-2016, the newsies - ever canny, on some levels - might have realized there was a downside to airing such telling imagery of the dimwit followers.
