(KTRK/CNN) -- A Houston father said it was his duty to turn his son in to police for bragging about the crimes he allegedly committed.
Christian Daniels, 18, told his father via a FaceTime call that he burglarized hundreds of cars in one week, according to court documents. The father, T. Daniels, told KTRK his son even admitted to stealing an officers firearm.
"He pulled paperwork out of the bag, and I said, 'What does that paperwork say?' And he put the camera closer to the paperwork and it said Houston Police Department, said Daniels. That really kind of ticked me off for him to even have a gun, and then you're going to steal one from a police officer, at that.

Somehow, I suspect this is not the first time Jr. has bragged to his dad about how much he stole. That kind of direct and boastful behavior is how I would expect one car thief to speak to another car thief, hoping to impress.
Perhaps the son pushed it this time, by stealing from a cop. That, according to the father, was over the top. Whatever the background, this dad did the right thing.
Perp is a real sweetheart. He will be dead or get life in prison before he turns 25. What a piece of work.
I would never, ever hand someone I care about over to the tender mercies of any police dept.
I agree.
Daddy is a Navy vet. if that means anything to you.
Means nothing as I am sure there are a few military vets in our prisons.
Yep. I was in the service. The service reflects society. Being a veteran holds very little water with me unless I know you. Same with being a decorated veteran. I saw too many medals handed out to too many undeserving folks while the ones who should have rated them received none.
Not sure how it worked but when I was “in” there was one guy at the base that was a total screw off and it was go to jail or go in the service. He chose the service and we got a petty thief.
Dumass broke into the EM Club one night, stole the cash box.
Ended up in the brig somewhere.
Stupid jerk had it better in the service than where ever the POS came from
So you are both stupid, “oooooh he’s my relative, he’s free to victimize society, I would do anything to stop him”.
Please say dumb not stupid. You can’t fix stupid.
OK, thank you, I should have disagreed in a better form. Yes, we need to protect our love ones. But not to the extent where they are clearly a threat.
At my last duty station I had an Airman reporting to me that had been incarcerated in the USAF Correctional Custody high rise facility at Lowry AFB. He had been in a theft ring stealing test equipment and fire extinguishers, etc. and sending them back home to his family to sell. As his Supervisor I was told. No one else in the workstation knew unless he told them. I was actually shocked to find out about it because we all held Top Secret Security Clearances. My only answer for that was that it was Jimmy Carter's Air Force.
I give people (both vets and non-vets) what I call “Default Respect”.
I treat them with respect (and with vets, that same extra measure of respect I give to anyone who has served) until they demonstrate that they are undeserving of my respect.
I have the most difficult time finding respect for veterans who are in lock step with Democrats, though. I simply don’t understand how that happens. I can respect them for their service, but it stops cold at the firewall of their Leftism.
Reminds me of the story where a father executed his pleading son because he sexually molested a child.
Well I won’t lie. I can be dumb and do and say dumb things. As long as I’m not stupid I should be ok.
It must have been different then. When I was in during the 80’ and early 90’s you would have had your clearance pulled. Even if it was only an allegation.
My ex-wife had a difficult time getting a clearance because she was born in Japan. Her dad was in the Air Force and stationed there. Go figure.
Turning him in is more likley to save his - and potentially others - life/lives...aiding and abetting our kids to become serious criminals is wrong on every facet ""If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. "....
I wouldn’t hand over a friend or relative for something petty, but you bet I would if they were a rapist or murderer. They don’t have a right to pretty on other people just because you love them.
