“Japan has the highest life expectancy”
They also have a lot of folks continuing to cash in on the japanese version of social security payments when a family member dies.
Kinda skews that stats...

What if what you love is eating chicken wings, drinking beer, and sitting on the couch watching football? Thats American Ikigai pretty much.

Japan also invented the concept and term “karoshi” (death by overwork).
Japan is a society of extremes and probably not good to emulate.

Then you are perfectly suited for bernie sander’s “employment for all” proposal.

Of course, the Japanese learned that the best way to live a long life is to “Not Bomb Pearl Harbor!”

A certain mid-west based electronics recycling and resale outfit used to practice a light version.
Working people to near exhaustion, both physically and more importantly, mentally.

All things in moderation.
Japan as nearly every society has good qualities to emulate.
Japan as nearly every society has poor qualities not to emulate.

Ikigai is likely going to be the lifestyle trend of the week after Hygge.

Their diet also makes use of a lot of plant protein. That’s a commonality in many of the blue zones.

Why they live long:
Japan has successfully kept out most m*zzies. The population is very NON-diverse. The people do not see anger and violence as the answer to all their problems. They have a culture of respect and obedience to rules.
Next question?

Diet and a lot of exercise. Movement by automobile is inconvenient and slow in much of the county so there is a lot of schleping. Running for trains, running for buses, an obession with fresh food that has many people shopping everyday.
One of the things I really liked is that they sell bread in eight slice packs. When I moved my family back to the USA after 14 years in Japan, they would not eat standard grocery store bread. I had to find high quality bakery bread.

Except for their bathing and sanitary facilities. We should definitely emulate that.

The Japanese turned to peaceful pursuits only after having the living S*** bombed out of them, and even then it took the Emperor’s command to chill out, people, the Americans have won.
Only then did postwar Japan become renowned for origami, bonsai, flower arranging and haiku writing.
They still have the highest suicide rate in the developed world, with no guns to do it with.

Japanese toilets!
I just got back from there and can’t believe I have to flush my own toilet, with the unheated seat.

What the Japanese are good at => living long, sexless, childless lives. Yep, let's copy their life style.
They are pretty good at killing themselves too. I bet if they didn't have to not count the ones that killed themselves their average life span would soar.
