Even the headline of the short essay in the New Yorker was meant to offend, and it did: Chick-fil-As Creepy Infiltration of New York City. The piece, by Dan Piepenbring, has been read, attacked, defended, and ridiculed by far more people than ordinarily read the New Yorker. If the editors goal was to attract online readers, they succeeded.
Piepenbring makes no effort to veil his contempt for the famously clean and friendly fast-food restaurant, of which there are now four in Manhattan. He visited the grand opening of the largest and most recently built one, on Fulton Street in Lower Manhattan. The air smelled fried, he writes. And yet Piepenbring leaves us to wonder many things, including why someone who doesnt like a restaurant should be annoyed that it closes on Sundays.......
The restaurants expansion in Manhattan, he writes, raises questions about what we expect from our fast food, and to what extent a corporation can join a community.
Of course, it raises no such questions. New Yorkers are very lefty in their politics; Chick-fil-As owners are Southerners with strong Christian convictions. But New Yorkers are mostly grownups, too, and theyre capable of coping with this slight dissonance.

The left is showing just how intolerant they are.
NY is rapidly on the way to becoming a sh*thole city anyway. Just wait and see. Progressives cannot yet take a bodacious Obama in the streets, but it’s on the Major and Governor’s agenda.
The franchise will probably outlive liberal bastions of outhouses.
They can’t stand facing the fact that a Christian is allowed to live, and to own a business. Why they find ways to destroy them - the gay wedding cake is a prime example.
The goal: eliminate Christians, after taking all their money.
New Yorkers love chicken also. I think there are somewhere around
a dozen Fil-a stores in the state now. Give it a couple more years and
there will many more.
Leftists see their elitist political leaders as gods, but they are really just fools. Leftists worship fools.
But New Yorkers are mostly grownups, too
Assumes facts not yet in evidence.

Scratch a Liberal.
Discover a fascist.
Wow - so the left thinks anyone who believes in Christ cannot serve a chicken sandwich. They are looking crazier and crazier every day.
A jackass NYer writes a jackass column. I’m just surprised it wasn’t in the New York Times rather than the New Yorker.
Most people in NYC who eat there are eating for the “healthier” chicken options. I doubt all of them know it is a Christian business or care. The first day it opened, it was overwhelmed with customers which horrified the local press.
I’m a New Yorker who just spent a happy week in Alabama. Call me nuts but all the churches and religious folk I ran into gave me huge comfort and a feeling of warmth.
“...The left is showing just how intolerant they are....”
Just more of the same leftist hypocrisy. Standard procedure.
Marxist are not tolerant of faith in the people. Along with scores of other rights which US citizens have.
Send the Marxists to Venezuela and let them enjoy their communism there.
The mere fact that a fast food restaurant is labeled as “Christian” is nothing but a war or words by the left-wing. The left-wing claims no one should “label” anyone or stereotype or name-call, yet, here they are doing it.
Wonder what a chicken sandwich costs in NYC. Chick-fil-a are expensive compared to most fast food restaurants. The basic plain sandwich costs ~$5. Wonder if it is $10 in Manhattan?
Put one in SF and I’ll believe we’re winning.
This is affirmation of the leftist leaders’ narrative about how people are not smart enough to make their own decisions, and so, the leftist newspapers and leftist leaders will try to make the decisions for those ignorant masses. Chic-fil-A has to be shown to be the worst kind of conservative evil around. How dare they bring religious beliefs into the restaurant business and to their “cleansed” city streets?
Thre’s a revolution going on, and the leftists need to lose this war and shown the way out of the country. Religion is not the enemy; the enemy are those that want to control every thought process of the population.
The rest of us out here in the flyover-hinterlands didn't watch it.
That is how stupendous the interview was, that only 8 million people think Comey might be credible.
So, the lamestreamers resort to dissing our favorite chicken restaurant and they pleasure themselves with the thought that they have got us where they want us.
It’s $3.65 everywhere I’ve been.
I haven’t watched 60 Minutes in 15 years so I didn’t know about the Comey interview. Didn’t watch Stormy, either. Life is way too short for this nonsense.
If they do put one in SF, people will come, I have no doubt.
Some people are the biggest crybabies. Screw em. I will eat a chicken sandwich every now and thenot anyways.
