Same here. Dad stayed with me for 5 years. Precious time. Managed to keep him out of the nursing home. It was sometimes tough. I had to take early retirement to do it, and the money was and is tight, due to that.
Blessings... money was tight with me too. Was fortunate enough to have a work from home job. That and my wife and kids helped out a lot. Nice having him here. We still joke about the things he said during family dining.
Same here spent every penny of his retirement and some of mine.
