You’re correct.

Kuru, mad cow, Creutzfeld-Jakob (sp?) are all related. They’re called prion diseases and they can be transmitted by eating brains, by eating bone marrow, by having surgery with contaminated instruments. I think also by consuming / transfusing blood.

Prions aren’t destroyed by normal sterilization procedures, so if A has the disease and is operated on and the same surgical instruments are used on B after autoclaving or other normal sterilization procedures, B can still get it.
