After two men were seen in social media video being handcuffed and removed by police officers from a Philadelphia Starbucks Thursday, the coffee chain issued an apology and said it is looking into the "unfortunate result."
Authorities were called to the store in Center City when the two men allegedly remained in the Starbucks after a manager told them they had to order something, according to the witnesses inside the Starbucks at 18th and Spruce streets. About five to seven police officers arrived about 4:30 p.m. and arrested the two men.
The men, who have not been identified, were later released after Starbucks declined to press trespassing charges.
Video of the encounter shows the two men calm as they are surrounded by officers, who ask them to stand up before handcuffing them and leading them out of the store. Witnesses inside the store could be heard asking what the men did that would lead the officers to arrest them.

Practically speaking, isn't it?
antifa does not believe in private property
I see from the article the two were waiting for a friendwho turned up as the police were escorting the other two out. A neat coincidence.
I doubt a store manager would turn two people away if they were simply waiting on someoneeven for half of an hour. If youre in a place like Starbucks doing nothing for an hour and wont buy anything...why do you need to be in there to do that?
Some mal-adjusted chess players were like that. Loitered in a clean, well-lit place for long hours, buying just a coffee or two and maybe some coffee cake. Maybe not so bad for two old friends at a McDonalds, but I remember reading about a coffee shop in Canada that nearly went under because a couple dozen players camped at the tables during business hours buying next to nothing while they played. Police eventually convinced them to find some place else to play.
Thats what the article implies when it says they were asked several times to leave by the police as well...and that is not inconsistent with the video.
I hope they were at least given that privilege.
Nope. That's part of white privilege only. They clearly didn't qualify.
(If I'm going to be accused of it anyway, may as well get some mileage out of it.)
Who called the police?
It isn’t a setup.
Coffee shops have to do this all the time.
Doesn’t matter if it’s cheap college kids with a small coffee using the wi-fi for hours, or homeless guys loitering inside to keep warm.
Now these two were asked to order or leave, which is perfectly within the right of the store. Those seats are there for paying customers.
Maybe the optics of the cops having to show isn’t the best, but these idiots were likely just sitting there acting like no one talked to them. So screw them both.
Dont play into their games. Once you adopt their terms they expect you to play by their rules.
I sure dont remember any special privileges growing up. Our family didnt get the memo nor received forms to join some BS white privilege club.
“Aren’t most Starbucks run by liberals? “
Yep, lawsuit trolling. They are hoping for a settlement.
“the two men allegedly remained in the Starbucks after a manager told them they had to order something, according to the witnesses inside the Starbucks”
A business can’t stay open if people camp out on the property but refuse to buy anything. If they are not interested in purchasing what the establishment sells, they should leave. If they refuse to leave, they are trespassing.
These two knuckleheads are looking for the race card payout.
I was a cocktail waitress for years and I couldnt tell you how many times 2 gals would come in, sit at one of my tables, and order waters. Id tell them ok but the water is the same price as a drink. When theyd get bitchy about it Id explain that no one makes any money off them drinking water and after all thats why were all here.
BPIS
Total set up. Even if it was legit, time to get the “No Loitering” signs out again.
A job would cut into their welfare benifits.
BLM creating an incident; haven’t been enough of them lately.
“Only on Vets day, do I venture in the Starbucks to get my free coffee.”
On Vets day, I’ll buy you a coffee..
No vet deserves to drink that starbucks swill.
“[The friend] said, ‘But this is a public space. Were in Starbucks. How is this considered trespassing?’
Here I was thinking Starbucks is a private business.
