DETROIT (AP) A black 14-year-old boy who got lost in a Detroit suburban neighborhood while trying to get to school was shot at by a white homeowner after knocking on a door to ask directions, prosecutors said Friday, citing home security video and the account of the boy.
Jeffery Zeigler, a retired Detroit firefighter, was arraigned Friday on charges including assault with intent to murder.
Oakland County sheriff's deputies were called to Zeigler's Rochester Hills' home about 8:20 a.m. Thursday after a woman told 911 that her husband had chased a black male who tried to break in. Deputies learned that a shot had been fired and found Brennan Walker unharmed down the street.
Walker's statement to police differed from that given by Zeigler, according to assistant prosecutor Kelly Collins.
"We do have the benefit of home security video," Collins told the court Friday. He said Zeigler's account was not borne out by the video.

How do you know? You seem like a vile person.
Truth hurt? Race is only mentioned when it fits the leftist agenda. Like this case. You seem like a person lost in space.
Could you point out where it says that he didn't have a phone?
I can't find it.
A common tactic of burglars is to knock to see if someone is home.
If no one answers they break in.
If someone answers they say something like "I've been going to this school for years but I don't know where it is".
Or if an elderly or frail person answers the door they push their way in.
Knocking on a complete stranger's door that early in the morning? Really?
This is Detroit. Home invasions and burglaries by black males are commonplace. Sorry, the story stinks.
> And no, he shouldn't have shot at someone running away or shouldn't have fired a warning shot.
The story is written in a biased fashion.
No land lines? Half the people I know dont have land lines. As for holes in the story, maybe so but Ill wait for all the facts to come out before I pass judgment. Plus, it sounds like he shot at him while fleeing the property. If thats the case, hes in deep trouble. This isnt the homeowners first incident with a firearm. From a local article: Court records show Zeigler was charged with felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, aiming without malice and felony firearms in 2006. He was found guilty of three counts of aiming without malice and sentenced to one year of probation.
Im not saying the 14 year old wasnt up to something, but as a CPL holder, which I am, it appears this guy may have went beyond protecting him and his wife. In Michigan, you have a right to protect yourself and others when you are in imminent danger. If its true that he was running away and he shot at him, the homeowner is probably in trouble. We shall see.
Lost on a trip he took for the last 2 or 3 years.
What better way is there to find out if a house is unoccupied than to knock on the door to ask an innocent question?
So, upper class suburban safety mom supposedly disciplines her son by taking away his cell phone, leaving him with no way to reach them despite the fact that he's apparently a latchkey kid being left home alone to wait for the school bus?
Whether you want to admit it or not, the story is full of holes and no matter how you slice it, doesn't make sense.
I’m not disputing that the story isn’t full of some holes and I’m not trying to slice it any way or in any direction. I was just responding to what you wrote. Let’s wait until the facts come out.
