I read that he could drink a case of beer without even breathing hard.

Do you need HBO to watch it or can you just pay for the documentary?

I watched a lot of wrestling back in the 70s, 80s and 90s. When I was 15, all of 5’6 and 130 pounds I had floor seats at Madison Square Garden where Andre was wrestling and he walked right past me - no more than a foot away. I couldn’t believe how big he was. I still can’t.

In this documentary, they rightly describe Andre as a mythological character akin to Paul Bunyan. He really was.

Inigo Montoya: You know Fezzik, you finally did something right.

Fezzik: Don't worry, I won't let it go to my head.

I remember back in 1974, reading a story about the Redskins considering giving him an offer as a lineman. They never followed through, though..

I grew up watching wrestling, and saw Andre in his prime during the 1970s. By the time he wrestled Hogan at Wrestlemania III, it was becoming obvious that he was slowing down and had some health issues. During his final couple of years, it was painful to watch Andre “wrestle.” It was an effort just for him to make his way to the ring, and once there, could not move around very well. It was a sad ending to a once great career.

Roussimoff died in his sleep of congestive heart failure on the night of January 27, 1993, in a Paris hotel room. He was found by his chauffeur.[2][89] He was in Paris to attend his father’s funeral.[90] While there, Roussimoff decided to stay in France longer to be with his mother on her birthday. He spent the day before his death visiting and playing cards with some of his oldest friends in Molien.[88]

His body was flown back to the US for cremation as he wished.
His ashes were scattered on his cattle farm in Ellerbe, NC.
His estate was left to his sole heir, his daughter Robin.

Every member of the cast of The Princess Bride talked about his gentleness.
Cary Elwes said that everyone saw the pain Andre was in during filming but he never complained, preferring to joke and laugh.
