Guys like McCabe can’t believe they did the right thing unless they’re constitutionally illiterate. They take a freakin’ oath to uphold and defend it and a brain would have to mobius, without rumble strips on it, to rationalize even a fraction of what’s going on in the swamp is within the bounds of the Founders document.
They are there for the dough, the team and a secure retirement.
Of note, one of the reasons we might not be seeing a bunch of these guys starting to have “accidents” is that TPTB might realize that if their upper level bureauminions start dropping like flies it might wake the rest of them the hell up and start them turning quicker.
I bet if one or two of the real key players starts singing we’ll see a rash of swamp minions start biting it like skeeters in the bug zapper on a hot southern night...
