Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a report detailing four acts of potential obstruction by Trump.
Special counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly about to close his obstruction probe and is preparing to report on at least four findings on Trumps attempts to obstruct justice.
According to NBC News, the four areas of potential obstruction include the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, Trumps role in drafting a misleading statement about the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting, Trumps role in pressuring Attorney General Jeff Sessions not to recuse himself from the Russia probe, and the dangling of pardons to grand jury witnesses.
Prior to this week, Muellers team was expected to finalize a report on its findings on whether Trump tried to obstruct justice in the Russia investigation in the coming months.
However, now that Trump is reportedly unlikely to sit down for an interview with Mueller, the timeline has sped up considerably.
Talks over a presidential interview with Muellers investigators reportedly broke down this week after the FBI raided the office and residences of Trumps personal attorney Michael Cohen.
As a result, Muellers team may be able to close the obstruction probe more quickly as they will not need to prepare for the interview or follow up on what the president says, NBC reported.
Once Mueller prepares his report on the four potential acts of obstruction by Trump, he is expected to send a confidential report to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is charged with overseeing the Russia probe.
It will then be up to Rosenstein whether to make the report public and send its findings to Congress.

I would suggest that being impeached by congress on charges that would not have a chance of receiving the super majority necessary for conviction in the Senate would work as much in President Trump’s favor as it did for President Clinton.
“Potential obstruction”? Is that like almost pregnant?
I thought Rosenweasel fired Comey?

Trump’s biggest mistake was not making sure Comey was gone at noon on January 20, 2017.
His biggest mistake was appointing Sessions.
Dangling pardons? Pressuring Sessions not to recuse? Firing Comey? Misleading disclosures?
Wow, I didn’t expect it to be this weak. This isn’t even a slap on the wrist.
This is great news for Trump. He doesn’t even have to deny any of this - he can just shrug his shoulders and say “Oh well”.
And the American people will see this was a witch hunt and punish the democrats at the polls (since Trump is a Republican).
The RINOs who stood by and let Trump dangle should get punished at the polls too but somehow I think they’ll walk.
“Too bad that report wont go to a conservative Rosenstein replacement who might say Thanks for the report, Robert (as he drops it in the waste paper basket)”
No, if the report is anything like this article says, it completely exonerates Trump.
Thing is, if the goal is to finally end this charade, the idea isn’t to spike the football and embarrass the #impeach-Trump crowd, the idea is to silence them - and to do that the best thing is to have the report come from people who have polished up their anti-Trump creds, like Mueller and Rosenstien.
If this continues to play out the way it appears to be, I think people will finally see the wisdom in NOT firing Mueller and Rosenstien.
And please, nobody say 4D chess. It’s just common street smarts.
Yeah, but that’s an error that I understand why he made. Sessions was a loyal supporter, good Senator, and former AG in Alabama. Granted, the pick shocked me. I thought for sure it would be Rudy or Christie. In hindsight, perhaps Chaffetz or Sekulow would have been good with Rudy as head of the FBI.
The investigation is about providing the Democrats with a reason, no matter how flimsy, to impeach the President when they reacquire control of Congress.

which ... because so many conservative. Republicans are saying they will not vote in November because of personal disappointments with this and that Congressional critter ... will allow the Democrats to take both Houses of Congress and make impeachment the topic from the 2018 election to 2020 where the Democrats hope that DJT will be so weakened he cannot win a second term. Basically sitting home in 2018 is a vote to impeach DJT.
Collusion is not a crime unless it pertains to stock fraud or the like.
I think the worthless rinos are going to try and throw it like no name did in ‘08.
Stay at home voters were the problem then and without enthusiasm in 2018 will stay home again, ensuring Democrats take House and Senate and DJT facing impeachment by Speaker Pelosi - plenty on FR are planning to repeat the same mistake, with similar dire national consequences.
Mueller has nothing. Time to put him and the rest of the FBI rats nest under the microscope.
Election was rigged for globalism.
McCain was a lousy candidate.
That didn’t help either.
Baloney.
Say what you want against ‘globalism’, still better than anything under far out Democrat absolute rule (with the elimination of the first and second amendments), better than sitting through years of news cycles listening to Democrats raving and foaming about impeaching DJT, and then watching a very weakened DJT utterly lose the 2020 election.
Your choice. President Pelosi would approve.
